The service is excellent; the food is very good. It is reasonable and has a great atmosphere. It is conveniently located near most hotels and you can take a walk in the park afterwards.

My wife is British and she was craving some food from her old country, so we stopped by Ye Olde King's Head on Memorial weekend while visiting Santa Monica. The food is good and the service is very good. I had the fish and chips which was ok, but not particularly great. My wife had Sunday roast and she seemed... More

I've been coming here since the mid 60s. The original pub was just the current bar area. There used to be a large German restaurant next door. When it closed the Ye Old King's head, broke through the wall and expanded into that space. Originally the pub catered mostly to British ex-pats. The menu is greatly expanded from what I... More

We were hanging around the Santa Monica Pier and needed to dinner. Nothing too fancy or expensive which is why we picked the King's Head. The food was very good. Better than your average British Pub. Nice selection on menu and for drinks. The atmosphere was quiet and fun. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Great place!

A good English pub atmosphere, but the food is very ordinary. Fish and chips had a very thick batter that was inedible, and the fish somehow managed to be tough. Chicken and mushroom pie was also below par, with e chicken being rubbery. If it were not for the atmosphere and good service would get only two stars.

There was a heavy set English woman working there with wavy hair, tied back. Within 20 seconds of being in the store she had: 1. Eyed my friend n me up n down very condescendingly. 2. Then approached us in an aggressive manner and then ordered me to leave my computer case at the door. I then responded with "Look... More

If you like English (or Scottish) style breakfast, you'll love this place. It has perfect portions for eveyone and after just coming back from London I can say its definitely authentic. The servers are very nice and the outside seating is lovely for people watching!

Our second visit in two years. Saw it reviewed on The Food Channel and vowed to visit when I retired a couple of years ago. I did... I had the double cod and chips on the first visit and the single cod and chips this visit. Beautiful! Very hot, crispy batter and tasty. $14. It's a typical old english pub... More

At first this looks great from the street but once inside its a bit old and tired, should have been a sign to leave but having just arrived from a long flight from New York we were tired and hungry. My wife ordered a steak well done and I ordered the liver and onions medium rare. They arrived in the... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
