good food, nice view

We enjoyed the food. We ordered seafood which is what the restaurant is known for and it was very enjoyable. The portion sizes were also decent. We had a seat by the window and there was a nice breeze and it was fun to people watch.

This is one of the hippest places to hang out on Ocean Avenue. The best tables are at the front where the windows open upwards for your enjoyment of the ocean views during dinner. The valet parking is some of the quickest I have ever seen.

The ambiance is very nice, the food a little bit pricey but they have a great clam chowder. Good service and they validate valet parking. Nice place if you are around Santa Monica

Not as good as last time, but still better than the first visit. Ocean Ave Seafood is now The Water Grill, and although the downtown Los Angeles restaurant is still one of my favorites, this new version in Santa Monica lags quite a bit behind. The restaurant has such a nice location that visiting friends always suggest going there, but... More

Walking down Ocean Avenue to our restaurant, now closed, we happened to see this inviting seafood restaurant with an open table by a window. Even a great menu with a cold, stuffy atmosphere or lousy, unattentive servers can ruin a dining experience. Not here, this was a restaurant with a great seafood menu, gracious staff and very accommodating, i.e. even... More

This restaurant was great. Loved the drinks. I had the scallops and they were cooked to perfection. But the oysters were amazing, huge and taste. I def would go back and highly recommend this place. The view was great as well the Santa Monica pier.

Nicely located with the Ocean view, friendly staff, and good atmosphere really beautiful place. But, as one of the reviewer commented and I agree ‘Average rating due to the price’ the food in my opinion was nothing special for that amount of money you expect more testy food. I had fish and risotto really so average,, Go for see food... More

Ocean Ave Seafood is steady in quality and service. Best to go during off-hours for an enjoyable meal and a table on the covered patio. The main dining room is quite noisy with a bit too much bustle. Soups and grilled salmon are excellent.

Average rating due to the price. Who can't deliver solid, fresh seafood at these prices? Definitely a corporate card place. Perfect location with great view on Ocean Ave. Beautiful restaurant and great atmosphere. Food is only average for the prices they charge. Everything was solid, except for the steak and the fish and chips. Don't order these.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
