Toes in the sand - what a great way to start the day!

This was my first breakfast on a business trip to the LA area. With my toes in the sand and the beach view, I relaxed in no time flat. I had the breakfast egg sandwich. It came with a big pile of fruit. Delicious. One of my companions ordered the steak and eggs. He did not complain. My other... read more

You can't get much closer then this if you are looking to eat on the beach. The tables outside are sitting literally in the sand, so the views are pretty and you can kick off your shoes and dig your toes into the sand. Very relaxing after a 4.5 drive and handling that infamous LA traffic. The service was good... More

Outstanding brunch on the beach in Santa Monica. There is a small parking lot, but we parked in Santa Monica and walked up the beach. No reservations. On good weather days expect an hour wait. Small playground to keep the kids occupied. Wait for the tables on the sand. Take your shoes off. You're at the beach. Good, attentive service.... More

Early flight in to lax and needed breakfast and coffee and beach time while waiting for the Getty Villa to open. It was perfect in every way. Great food, coffee, service, prices and ambiance. Loved!

We stopped here for breakfast on a rainy Sunday morning. The breakfast burrito and mushroom omelette were both served with gorgeous potatoes and both delicious. It is a tad on the expensive side and there was a bit of a wait (probably because nobody wanted to sit outside) but overall it was a culinary experience we would certainly recommend.

Back on the Beach is the PERFECT spot to take your family, or meet friends, for brunch. You can't beat the scenery. Imagine dining right on the beach with views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica Mountains. Stunning. I highly recommend the French Toast and scones; eggs are also very good. This is a great LOCAL restaurant who supports... More

This is a very cool place on the beach. The food isn't outstanding but a good menu and decent. The setting is what it's all about. Be sure so sit outside under an umbrella in the sand. Totally good venue. We walked from up above down crazy stairs and then back up. No issues. You can drive too but the... More

Glad we stopped here for our last meal (breakfast) before flying home to Texas. Great beach ambiance, fresh food, good/friendly service. Homemade salsa a big plus. Will definitely be back.

You are definitely on the beach. Our toes--and chairs were in the sand. Had a great fresh salad and then we indulged in fries. Service and food is very good, but the star is the view! We were there on a pristine beach day--not a cloud--with a beautiful view of the ocean and mountains.

Nice spot for lunch on the beach. The restaurant is low key and offers a nice variety of things to eat including fish tacos and salads for those of us who may prefer a lighter meal.

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
