I've been coming here since it opened. Brian Vidor and Jack the manager are my friends now after so many years. The food is pacific rim based and always fresh and tasty! Live music performances have been added on Monday nights. And the house rocks!

I thought it was really cool that it was in an airport! Its sort of off the beaten path, but when you find it, you will know to come back. Catfish was great, Short Ribs were great. You must try this place before it closes!

If it has black bean sauce - EAT IT! Did I mention that the Black Bean sauce is great! OK everything at Typhoon is really good. Even standard fare like Kung Pao Chicken might be the best you've ever had. Enjoy!!!

Have you had REALLY great Catfish lately, and an amazing view, all thrown together with great service? No?! Oh, okay - that's because you've never been to Typhoon Restaurant in Santa Monica darlings! I've had several different meals at this restaurant, but it's the enormous catfish specialty, that has to be split between two people, that keeps bringing me, family... More

Loved the panoply of Asian fusion dishes- more variety than you see anywhere. All were tasty. Added benefit is that you can go up on the roof and see and hear the planes takeoff and land! You can actually see them from the restaurant interior, which has an impressive view.

They have it all, great food, great view, great service. What more can you ask for in a restaurant. I have eaten here dozens of times and have never been disappointed. Great lunch spot and killer dinner spot. If you were sitting any closer to the runway at Santa Monica Airport you would be a pilot, yet it is never... More

The view from this spot is great, watching planes take off, and not a bit of noise. The resto itself is asian cuisine and good, novel, but not great, but it does not matter, because it is such an interesting place to go, and the drinks and wine lists are also very good. What makes this place special, in addition... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
