Very Nice Italian

This is a terrific old school place. The dining room is quiet and the staff is very helpful. Make the spaghetoni with wild boar ragu is a definite must try!

I took my mother and two others for dinner to celebrate her birthday. I've always found the food at Valentino's to be top notch, and the service is generally very good. Unlike another reviewer who did not enjoy the prix-fixe meal, in our case it was excellent. I'd made a reservation and was told that the semi-enclosed banquettes at the... More

Came with friends for Restaurant week menu. The food was barely edible. My brother who is a regular customer gets an entirely different quality of food, but he orders off the menu.

Our concern about your review is that Valentino has not participated in Los Angeles Restaurant Week in about 3 or 4 years. Wrong restaurant, perhaps? We would certainly like to have more details in order to respond to your about your experience. More

We'd been meaning to try Valentino for years. We saw a Groupon for their prix fix menu and figured it was a great opportunity to try this icon of Italian cuisine. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was moderately busy. The restaurant itself is very stylish but really nothing special. The service was good but our server... More

We had a business dinner in one of the wine cellar's private dining rooms and it was just the right mix of great food, even better wine, and very friendly...not at all stuffy... staff.

We had the Chef's tasting menu and also had them select our italian wines for the evening (Chardonnay, Brunello and a Barolo). As always attentive service, not rushed, quiet atmosphere. Expensive and therefore no children. Their pastas are the best and always request a risotto dish, short rib is to die for and the appetizer with the sliced veal was... More

Food, atmosphere and service were just average. No windows or art, slow service, food (we had lasagne and veal piccata) was just ok. Bread was almost inedible. Bread sticks were good!

Combine the finest wine list in Los Angeles with perfectly prepared Classic dishes and very creative specials and tasting menu and you have Velentino. As a happy client of over 35 years, I have never been disappointed. Nor, despite it being expensive, have I ever felt that I didn't receive great value. I have not seen the menu or combed... More

Go old school with awesome fresh ways.this place is elegant yet has wonderful food. Pricey but worth the spend. the service is outstanding. the atmosphere is easy and very "old school"where you can actually sit and have a conversation with your partner. Luxurious and like I said so worth the spend.. Value is average for wonderful food

Had wanted to try this restaurant for years as it has many accolades. Unfortunately it is nothing special although it tries to be authentic Italian, it is very disappointing. We had a seven course menu and only one course was enjoyable. None of the other courses were distinctive and the total bill was $250 with only 3 glasses of wine.... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
