An very good place

A very good kitchen since the 70s. The owner is very king and offered advice on wine and was assisting in the tasting.

An authentic, old style Italian restaurant. It feels calm and reassuringly Italian. The decor is understated and doesn't overwhelm. Its the food here that is the star of the show. A short menu but you just know that everything is seasonal and cooked well. My crab cakes were amazing. In keeping with the food, the waiting staff were quietly efficient.... More

First of all, this is a great experience, whether it's your first visit or 101st, like ours. The food is always "WOW". The service is friendly, prompt and attentive...very professional, and at the same time, you have the feeling you're at home. One of the great wine lists in America is always a wonderful chore to wade through, but Piero... More

Valentino's was our first real date. 31 years later, it is still the best. Food, service, all was in sinc.

Been coming here since 1975 and never once was I disappointed and usually blown away. Piero is a spectacular restauranteur, best I ever experienced. Over the years I hosted many legal and governmental luminaries from a U.S. Attorney General, Governor of CA, Chief Judge Emeritus of the U.S. Court of International Trade and many more. I learned more about wine... More

Truly enjoyed a Friday night stop at Valentino's V-Bar. Had 2 of their V-Bar bites --- caprese salad and a crepe filled with the most delicious thinly-sliced lean duck. Ummmm. Add a glass of pinot grigio and the friendly banter of server, Amy, as well as sparkling conversation with another patron. All together a wonderful place in Santa Monica.

Wonderful evening surrounded by attentive service and delicious food. We had the tasting menu and the highlights were the grilled octopus with fregola and fusilli alla Norma. The wine service was perfect as we brought a Saxum 2007 and supplemented with a Verdicchio and Pecorino by the glass and a Chateau Filhot Sauternes for dessert. Loved it. Will be back.

I took my mother and two others for dinner to celebrate her birthday. I've always found the food at Valentino's to be top notch, and the service is generally very good. Unlike another reviewer who did not enjoy the prix-fixe meal, in our case it was excellent. I'd made a reservation and was told that the semi-enclosed banquettes at the... More

Came with friends for Restaurant week menu. The food was barely edible. My brother who is a regular customer gets an entirely different quality of food, but he orders off the menu.

Our concern about your review is that Valentino has not participated in Los Angeles Restaurant Week in about 3 or 4 years. Wrong restaurant, perhaps? We would certainly like to have more details in order to respond to your about your experience. More

We'd been meaning to try Valentino for years. We saw a Groupon for their prix fix menu and figured it was a great opportunity to try this icon of Italian cuisine. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was moderately busy. The restaurant itself is very stylish but really nothing special. The service was good but our server... More

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
