What a place. Just try it out, you will definitely enjoy every course. Went for a business trip to LA and had a meeting there. Nice atmosphere and very friendly waitresses. I tried two starters (ribs and tartar) and two main dishes (squid pasta and duck) and have to say both where incredible good. So sad that I was to... More

Every once in a long while, you have the greatest dining experience.....thus Tar and Roses. From the moment we arrived till we walked out the door, we can say it was a wonderful evening. The food was delicious with unique complex flavors The interesting menu had small dishes and some larger with varied choices. The dessert (strawberry crostini) is a... More

Friends and coworkers have raved about this place to me, so I had to check it out for myself. My bf and I sat at the bar for dinner. It was a Monday night around 8pm, the waiting area is really cute bench and they will serve you wine/beer. When we sat for dinner the bartender was very professional and... More

Came here expecting a lot but left feeling let down. A friend of mine told me I had to try it. So I did. Didn't hate it just nothing stood out. Ten or fifteen years ago this place would have been amazing. Now it's just like a million other nice restaurants that talk a big game, have the style down,... More

Great food, I cannot be more succinct. The menu offers a nice variety of fish and beef dishes, well prepared, seasoned and delicious. The portions are small, but shareable when one wants a taste of everything. The wine selections are overwhelmingly good and the service first rate. The staff is friendly, helpful and never any pressure to turn the table.... More

For those who know me, I rarely give a 5 star review. These are reserved for all around perfection - food, atmosphere, service and price. Tar and Roses absolutely hit all of these and then some. My wife and I completely lucked out - I happened to park a block away, looked for a place to eat on Trip Advisor,... More

This is a must, the other reviews highlight the good dishes, the oxtail, the gnocchi. Nice beer and wine selection. While we were there a woman in a group at the table next to us accidentally dropped her wedding ring and it fell through the floor boards. Their server climbed into the crawl space under the floor with who knows... More

Everthing about this restaurant is terrific - from the genuine welcome as you walk in the door, to the delicious and interesting food, excellent selection of Italian, Spanish and USA wines and the great service. Loved the Ox tail dumplings, Crispy pigs tails and the deep fried Snapper.

Delicious meal, excellent service. Exceeded expectations. Food was fresh, perfectly cooked and well presented. The menu was interesting and the amount of food was perfect, at least for me, not too much but not stingy. I will go back.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
