This cute restaurant has some really wonderful food, mainly centered around a northern Italian wine region. We had tried several of their appetizers, in particular their ox tail dumplings which were so delicious! We also had their whole fish that was served with face, lips and all! No kidding. It was wonderful and the sauces were excellent. Food does really... More

If you are in Santa Monica you must stop by at Tar and Roses. Very elegant venue, yet not stuffy. Fresh ingredients, intelligent coupling, good selection of wine - although a bit pricey by the glass - and the chocolate cake was....literally to die for.

We're rarely impressed by American restaurants which in our opinion use far too much sauce and flavouring in dishes, which obscures the taste of their produce - perhaps wisely sometimes. However, Tar & Roses is an exception and is the equal of the restaurants we like in Europe and Shanghai. We started with a glass of Californian sauvignon blanc/semillon from... More

Flew here just for the restaurant. Be sure to make reservations! This place did not disappoint us. The OX tail dumplings are a must! The service was excellent from host, waiter to bus boy. Great atmosphere! Can"t wait to come back,

This is where you share and explore. Ordered several small plates with no disappointments. Wonderful flavors and some surprise pairings. If you can be seated in the back patio, there is less noise and lovely ambiance. Reservations are a must and early seating easier. Expensive but worth the experience.

I dined here recently for a romantic night out. The place serves tapas size dishes, but charges regular sized prices. I was expecting a lot of flavor for the price point, but was disappointed. I would not dine here again. It was packed and service was slow. The dining room itself has a nice ambiance and a chic industrial vibe.

Number 1, make a reservation, we did, but the line for walk ins was long. Great ambience and sweet staff, although my the time they have listed off all the special things they want to point out on their menu, you lose track. Salad to start was nice until I found a hair in it and sent it back, waitress... More

We really enjoyed the whole evening. My husband and I had the fried snapper for two and could not stop raving about it. Our daughter had the duck and loved it! We went on Sunday evening and going back again Tuesday evening.

I really love this restaurant. The food is superb, the atmosphere unique and lovely, and the service is excellent. Give it a try, and don't forget to order the bone marrow and/or the brussell sprouts. DIVINE!
