My wife and I went with our three daughters during our holiday. During the holiday we had been to a number of restaurants and this wes not only one of our favourites on holiday but of all time. Fantastic meal, service and atmosphere.

We'd booked this place having checked its web site via Open Table. We had a reminder email the day before the reservation. We took a cab from Marina Del Rey where e were staying but when we arrived, the place was closed and undergoing some sort of refurb. No mention of this on the web site, so they seem to... More

I have been here a few times for dinner and the food is always superb (creative, yet not overly-done) and the service friendly and attentive - very nice done!

Santa Monica has no shortage of good restaurants, but this is one of my favorites along Santa Monica Boulevard. I've had the pleasure of enjoying a meal hear a couple of times and the consistency is remarkable. While the menu not necessarily set up this way, I've always gone family style and have yet to have a dish I did... More

My husband and I ate here mid June. It was difficult to get a reservation, so we are early. Our reservation was at 6p and the place was packed. We split a few dishes and they were all excellent. Would highly recommend the shellfish pot.

Yet another fantastic dinner! My daughter and I come to LA to market every 3 months, and dining at Tar and Roses is always the highlight of our stay. The strawberry tartan with honeycomb ice cream should not be missed!

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
