Umami Burger was a stop on a burger tour of Southern California. We came in and it wasn't super busy yet. Staff was friendly, burger was excellent. Had the Umami equivalent of a bacon cheese burger and was floored. Bacon was awesome, nothing was less than awesome. Best in SoCal though?? Yet to be determined!

It's been here before the hipster-isation of burgers, and it's still the best. Start with the Umami Burger in order to dip your feet into these tasty waters, you won't go wrong. I just hope that the Santa Monica City Council doesn't really give approval to tear down Fred Segal's for yet another lame computer-generated mega mixed-use development that is... More

Four blocks back from the pier - a lot quieter. Wandered in to full restaurant, correctly predicted 25 min wait, quickly sorted drinks. "The Truffle Burger is the one that brings them back". No ketchup, no mustard. Seriously. You really do need to try this. Young set, buzzing, great atmosphere, slightly enchanting faded set. Great people, great food.

I ordered "The Manly Burger." It was good, but not great. I think we've been desensitized and spoiled with good burger joints lately. Maybe my bar was raised too high. But you know what was AMAZING - the truffled fries. YUM.

This Santa Monica gem is located inside the Fred Segal Building at Broadway and 5th. They are easy to miss, but if you enter on 5th street there is ample, free parking (a rarity in the Los Angeles area). Their 'manly fries' are to die for. Portion is not huge, but enough for sharing with someone else. A combination of... More

Burgers are great, and their exclusive oxtail burger ranks up in the top 3 burgers I ever had - amazingly juicy and packed with flavors. The side orders are good but not as great as the burgers. Service is friendly and pretty attentive, but be aware the place can get busy and noisy so set your expectations accordingly. As should... More

The burgers are completely awesome (best I’ve ever had?) and the best list is serviceable but nothing more. 9 taps and some good stuff on my visit (Goose Matilda, DFH 90) so yes the beer is very much a side show to the food and not a reason to visit in it’s own right. Can get busy and noisy.

This place came highly recommended by locals we were visiting. It certainly delivered. Nice vibe to the place. Simple but nice. Pretty much any type of burger you could think of. Very flexible with additions or subraction of extras. Nice salads or sides to order. Actually were trying out some tapas offerings. Surprised the place wasn't more crowded, but it... More
