Great food and lively atmosphere

9 of us had a work dinner and the food and cocktails were great. Good service, fresh oysters and lovely seafood. Quite busy so a lively atmosphere. Food came out quickly, could have done with a little longer between courses. Chocolate peanut butter cake crazy good!!

This tucked-away place looks nondescript from the outside but is pleasant and inviting on the inside. The seafood is amazing! Very fresh ingredients and wonderful, tasty, inventive combinations.

If you want to gamble about 60$ per person (without drinks) on whether your meal will be good or bad... Then this is the restaurant for you. I've been there a handful of times, and my experience has been exactly that- half the time good, the other half terrible. Service, however, is pretty consistently poor.

We had a wonderful meal and were lucky enough to stumble upon LA food week so got to try several dishes with smart wine pairings. BUT! We had the spaciest, worst waitress ever. She was nice but could not really focus. She forgot our glasses of wine, kept forgetting the check and so on. However, i would go back.

Some peeps have bemoaned the lack of crab cakes on the dinner menu but it's worth it to go for brunch where they have "crab cake Benedict". Oysters on the half shell are always awesome here. The mussels for dinner is an experience- ask for the grilled Chibata bread- it'll make you want to take on baking bread- to dip... More

This is a buzzy restaurant with a varied menu but specialising in sea food. We ate here on our first night in Santa Monica having completed our Route 66 road trip. It was lively but not too intrusive and the food was great. It is not the cheapest but we had researched and knew that when we booked. It was... More

Visited here after reading the reviews on here and finding it was only along the road from our hotel. What a great choice we made coming here: it was mother's day in the US but we were quickly seated at the bar where the same menu items as at tables could be ordered. We ordered drinks first and a friendly... More

Went here because of a friend’s recommendation and its proximity to where we were staying. Oysters were great, as was the clams and chorizo entrée. Grilled King Crab leg itself was nice and sweet, but maybe the accompanying buckwheat noodles were a little overpowering. Food very good. Practically full restaurant was noisy.

Extremely disappointing! We were really hoping to enjoy our time at Hungry Cat, given it is so close to home and its decor is relaxing, homey and beautiful. Sadly, Hungry Cat is just awful and lacking on so many levels. The only redeeming thing going for it is an excellent tomato, feta, basil and watermelon salad. Really refreshing and well... More
