Busy Santa Monica eatery worth the wait

We had to wait almost 45 minutes to get a table, but the restaurant took our name and called our cell, so we were able to walk around the promenade while we waited. Large selection of very fresh vegetables uniquely prepared. Good cocktails, good burger. The restaurant was very loud, but we were... read more

Very popular busy noisy restaurant and bar. heaving with life and atmosphere just off pedestrian precinct. If you want to have a quiet conversation this is not the place for you . The clientele is young , lights are dim but the food and service is good. The menu offers some interesting dishes and I recommend the brussel sprout salad... More

The food was great and they had unique drinks - including Kombucha (which I never see at restaurants). The service was great - the fact that you put your name in and they can text you when your table is up allows you to wander around a bit.

This is one of my go-to places for work lunch. They have a nice variety of small plates and large, healthier choices like kale salads and fish, to comfort food like an incredibly rich mac n cheese and fried chicken options that always satisfy. It's atmosphere is open, casual and happening, and with the location just off the Promenade, it... More

I've never been disappointed with the menu at the Mistfit. Whether I want to go more healthy like quinoa salad or decadent like lobster sliders I can always find something I want. They have a good balance of staple small plates and rotating a few new menu items. Also among my favorites: the brunch and bottomless mimosas (and there's a... More

This SM hangout is perfect for foodies, couples, business meetings and hanging with friends. (And I here the happy hour is great but haven't tried it). The restaurant has a New York feel located in the historic clocktower building. The tin ceiling veneer, wood paneled walls and tiled columns go back to its original (a richly decorated bank office I... More

My wife and I wandered in unknowing...and now we do. Looking like a Santa Monica, touristy, hipster kind of gastropub I wasn't expecting much, but I was hungry. Granted, its noisy and BUSY. I knew this place was different when I went upstairs to go to the restroom and saw the plates coming out of the kitchen (there are tables,... More

Get there early! We did, for happy hour which goes until 7:00 I believe. Bacon wrapped dates were delicious. Most of the menu happens to be GLUTEN FREE! Gluten free Mac & cheese is delightful. Cocktails are very creative and divine! We stayed for quite awhile and had two different servers. Both fantastic!

My wife wanted steak and a girl at Anthropologie mentioned Misfit and I'm so glad they did! My wife and I had a wonderful time and a great meal tonight. We ate inside but there is a bit of outside seating if the weather is appropriate. The atmosphere is really cool with high ceilings, a cool bar backdrop and great... More

I've made the trip across from Australia to LA a few times now and after finding this little gem in 2011 I make it a must do every time I am in town. The atmosphere is on point, with the character of the building, the bar, bookshelves and the lighting really setting a mood. The bar does a mean cocktail... More

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
