Very Good Italian

We walked in to Hostaria del Piccolo just looking for a dinner close to where we were staying. We were very pleasantly surprised and had one of the better meals in Santa Monica at a good price. Nice selection of Italian wines. I had the pasta of the day (pasta with cheese) and it was very good... read more

Nice Italian with outdoor patio area off street. Quiet residential area. We went here several months ago and intended to return but it seems to have closed.

Great location away from the promenade madness. Beautiful decor modern and clean style inside and on the small patio. We tried this place about a year ago and found food a bit disappointing. The food and service is still just average. Not bad, just not good. Have not tried the pizza which seems to be there thing...Both times we went... More

They hit the top 3 for me. We loved everything we ordered (positions were a little small - but that's European style), service was extremely fast and friendly and tasteful design and decor in European style. Closest thing to authentic Italian experience in downtown Santa Monica.

Great Italian restaurant in Santa Monica: cute décor, perfect service. You can taste that the food has just been made to order for you. The choice is great, both for food and wine and the prices reasonable. The black-dough pizza with smoked salmon was incredible. The appetizer of fried seafood was perfect also. We paired this with a good Pinot... More

This restaurant has me coming back for many reasons. The food is always superb quality and the prices are affordable, and best deal is their happy hour which is from 4-8pm which is rare as nobody really gets out of work at 5pm anymore. right! The pasta is fantastic and the pizzas are wonderful, and nice wine selection even by... More

Very traditional restaurant with a modern twist. The owner takes pride in his customers satisfaction and it is very obvious. I had a traditional dish and a hand crafted pizza. Both exceeded my expectations although the portions are not too large (as most traditional Italian restaurants serve).

Really great menu and servers that know their stuff. Comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The porchetta reminded me of our last trip to Arricia near Rome. Definitely a great restaurant!

I had had a solo lunch break from work here and ordered the special of the day, linguini alla vongole. it was cooked perfectly al dente and the clams were fresh. Excellently seasoned and nice environment to sit in peace.

After looking for a gluten free restaurant in the neighborhood, I decided to give Hostaria del Piccolo a try. The service was excellent!. As I'm the one with the gluten free needs - I enjoyed my meal. I had the grilled vegetables for starter which was very good and the gluten free pasta. The pasta was a bit too salty... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
