Great place

Went here on a Friday did not know what to expect. Food was good, portions not too big but perfect sized. Great taste. I had the braised beef and my wife the chicken plate.. Both tasted good. Service was quick and friendly. Place a little loud but not annoyingly loud.

Our party settled on this location on a whim and it was a great choice. We ate here on a great October night in 2014. The food was wonderful, pizza incredible and the squid ink neri were delicious! Service was prompt and attentive and the price for the food was the most reasonable we had encountered on our trip through... More

We ate on the outside patio, it was quiet so we could converse; server was Italian and very good; carpaccio, gnocci, chicken, creme puff dessert, espresso, wine, all good. We would not return if we had to eat inside, as it would be noisy and they have a TV on.

Hostaria del Piccolo is my go-to authentic Italian restaurant. A little pricey, but I close my eyes and I'm back in Tentino. Wonderful!

Okay, maybe it's an L.A. thing. Maybe it's the fact we just came from Italy. Maybe we were a little unnerved by the cosmopolitan juggernaut that was Santa Monica. Or maybe this place really was as bad as as we remember. We made a reservation out of convenience of the proximity of the restaurant to our hotel. Arrived at the... More

This place was recommended by the place we are staying at and it didn't disappoint. The food was very tasty and the prices reasonable. The service was friendly and timely. I've seen other reviews about the noise level but we were out front by the sidewalk and didn't experience any problem having quiet conversation. The portions were a pleasant size... More

Let's face it - LA is not one of the word's great food destinations. You have to hunt very had to find a restaurant that delivers quality produce with some degree of subtlety. Hostaria del Piccolo in Santa Monica is a breezy Italian bistro that's informal but friendly with a simple menu built around some core Italian dishes. The waiting... More

If you like tasty food in an atmosphere where you can't hear what the person you came with is saying-this is the place for you. It has a unique menu, many items and pizza selections I've not seen elsewhere. The food always tastes fresh and well-prepared. But, the noise level is the worst of anywhere I've ever dined.

Just tried this restaurant. Great food. Good menu with lots of delicious choices. (But don't get a table in very front - too noisy and hard to hear conversation). Valet parking (pricey but necessary).

There are so many excellent new wood fired pizza places in Santa Monica and Venice that one would think it would be hard to find a bad one. Restaurants should know their competition. Clearly this restaurant doesn't. We ordered two pizzas; the hostess said the sausage pizza was "to die for" and our waitress said it was "very popular." Waitress... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
