Good gluten free food but noisy

After looking for a gluten free restaurant in the neighborhood, I decided to give Hostaria del Piccolo a try. The service was excellent!. As I'm the one with the gluten free needs - I enjoyed my meal. I had the grilled vegetables for starter which was very good and the gluten free pasta. The pasta... read more

Really great menu and servers that know their stuff. Comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The porchetta reminded me of our last trip to Arricia near Rome. Definitely a great restaurant!

I had had a solo lunch break from work here and ordered the special of the day, linguini alla vongole. it was cooked perfectly al dente and the clams were fresh. Excellently seasoned and nice environment to sit in peace.

My wife and I found this place using Open Table and ended up that we walked past this restaurant several times during our stay and never noticed it. We only were able to dine here once, for weekend brunch so this review is only about this one experience. My wife had the smoked salmon benny and I had the polentovo... More

We visited on a recent holiday from austraila. Being gluten free we did some research and absolutely loved it! The service was incredible and it was the closest thing to real Italian food I've had since being in Italy! We had appetizers- octopus and pork ribs, main- pizza and pasta and dessert- creme pastry puffs and chocolate cake. All gluten... More

Our party settled on this location on a whim and it was a great choice. We ate here on a great October night in 2014. The food was wonderful, pizza incredible and the squid ink neri were delicious! Service was prompt and attentive and the price for the food was the most reasonable we had encountered on our trip through... More

Went here on a Friday did not know what to expect. Food was good, portions not too big but perfect sized. Great taste. I had the braised beef and my wife the chicken plate.. Both tasted good. Service was quick and friendly. Place a little loud but not annoyingly loud.

We ate on the outside patio, it was quiet so we could converse; server was Italian and very good; carpaccio, gnocci, chicken, creme puff dessert, espresso, wine, all good. We would not return if we had to eat inside, as it would be noisy and they have a TV on.

Hostaria del Piccolo is my go-to authentic Italian restaurant. A little pricey, but I close my eyes and I'm back in Tentino. Wonderful!

Okay, maybe it's an L.A. thing. Maybe it's the fact we just came from Italy. Maybe we were a little unnerved by the cosmopolitan juggernaut that was Santa Monica. Or maybe this place really was as bad as as we remember. We made a reservation out of convenience of the proximity of the restaurant to our hotel. Arrived at the... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
