The food that we order mac n cheese lobster and shrimp pesto were really delicious and we

The mac n cheese lobster and shrimp pesto were delicious and we get to seat Al Fresco style overlooking the stunning Santa Monica beach! It was just a few blocks from the pier. I will definitely recommend the resto as it was recommended to us to try it by Murphy the hotel staff at Wydham hotel.

Lunch or dinner by the shore. This lobster shack by the coast feels like it's been here for decades, but retains the freshness others lack. Simple choices well prepared. Raw bar or dine-in counter, inside or outside seating, and a perfect location. Lobster roll, bouillabaise, fish tacos, and daily fresh fish offerings. They nailed this one!

We were hard pressed to name a "most favorite" eating place during our recent trip to Santa Monica (we were fortunate to have dined often and very well in a handful of establishments.) Blue Plate Oysterette however took first place finally after careful consideration... after weighing all its many pluses. First, there is no doubt you are there to have... More

The place is small, like any fish shack, first come basis. Oysters and clams and shrimps oh my! Sit at the bar/counter and watch the expert preparations of the chefs and servers. I initially went for their Ipswich fried clams. Sold out. But they did have steamer clams, a rarity these days even on the east coast! They were perfect.... More

Fabulous fresh seafood in this small busy restaurant which buzzed with atmosphere. Shrimp linguine and scallops were very good and key lime pie sublime! Chloe's excellent service made all the difference. Thank you.

Small and intimate, but the waitstaff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and the food was memorable enough that I am writing a review! The simplicity of it all is what makes Blue Plate Oysterette stand apart. We started at the bar--who knew watching guys suck oysters could be so much fun? The waitress behind the counter was thoughtful enough to ask... More

We were visiting family in Pasadena from the east coast and made a trip to Santa Monica to eat here again, having been here 3x before. We were not disappointed again! Great oysters, great lobster roll, great steamers. A little tight in the seating, but a great place for seafood. We will definitely be back next time we are in... More

Excellent oysters but the rest of the meal was not what we hoped for. Place is small, no bar, way too brightly lit. Would not return.

If you want to be treated as if you've never been to a restaurant or are a four year old come here. I felt an overwhelming sense of stalker from everyone working there. The couple next to us hadn't even had a chance to touch their food and there had already been two wait staff come by to see if... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
