Limited menu, inedible food, like warmed Pakistani garbage. The wait staff are rude and utterly devoid of any manners and courtesy. In a nutshell, pigswill in disguise

Food poisoning enough said? Sent the food back and the obnoxious waiter replaced it with something worse. Stay away as far as possible from the dining room from hell.

We were very tired after a long trip from Australia so decided to just eat at the hotel - something we rarely do when traveling. We were pleasantly surprised as the outlook over the ocean in classy Art Deco surroundings was wonderfully relaxing. The chairs were v comfortable - appreciated after that long flight/sore back and the service was friendly... More

The Shangri-La Hotel is a visual delight, a marvelous throw back to 1930s Art Deco. We're in Santa Monica about twice a year and each time we manage to walk by the Shangri-La, check it out and enjoy its good looks. And looking good is an understatement for the Shangri-la! This time we decided to try it for dinner. Good... More

Had the lunch prix fixe menu. At $16, for 3 courses with a salad, a great value. However, the flavors missed the mark. The risotto-balls, the appetizer I chose, tasted as though they had been fried in re-used oil, had a tinge of a fishy flavor. The chicken club wrap was, again, lackluster. The best dish was the lemon meringue... More

The Dining Room at Shangri-La appears to be a well kept secret in Santa Monica. I have always been able to find a table there at the last minute, which is a suprise. The view of the Pier and the ocean is gorgeous, the food exquisite and the ambiance quiet, relaxed and upscale. The service was very good. I highly... More

We lazed away a rainy Sunday afternoon here surrounded by plenty of classy Spring Break vacationers who seemed to be enjoying the fabulous food, atmosphere and service as much as we were.

Inventive menu with twists on traditional dishes like crab louie. great that they offer smaller portions of popular entrees. had the sea bass, which was terrific, and my dining companion raved about the crab cakes.

Unlike staying at the hotel - please don't, the restaurant was a much better experience, although the staff did not really seem to know the basics such as what was in certain cocktails. Meals not that cheap but were very good.

During our stay at the Shangrila my wife and I had numerous meals at the restaurant. We were very happy with the service, which was friendly and fast. The chef did an amazing job with the food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good size portions and value for money (3 course dinner with one drink each costing us $100 excl... More
