Ordered the prime rib medium rare. The preparation was excellent but the cut was sub-standard. A bit tough to cut in spots which is not expected. The flavor was so-so. The salad was just okay. In Santa Maria you expect fresh but it was not that. More like something out of a bag that was in the refer a bit... More

Decided to give the Swiss a go based on TripAdvisor reviews - best decision I've made throughout my entire trip to the States. What I've eaten before in a Michelin-starred steakhouse did not come close to the New York steak that was put in front of me at the Swiss Chalet. A delicious meal, with equally second-to-none service from the... More

Bar is friendly for a drink before you dine. Nice booths and the service is top drawer. I recommend the rib eye steak...char broiled and not a lot of chef's seasoning. Really good flavor and cooked to perfection (medium rare). The grilled artichoke was delicious and the secret side food is the mac and cheese. The pork chops are a... More

This is the home town steak house tourists don't get to hear about! Food, drinks, atmosphere, and service are always spot on! Try their to die for ribeye, prime rib and pork chops (don't forget the apple sauce with the chops!). Only tid bit, don't go for the artichoke app, way better at the Hitching Post in Casmilia, will only... More

My husband and I just returned from "The Swiss" and I couldn't wait to write this review. I had the ribeye steak and my husband had the prime rib. We both agreed that both of our meals were one of the best beef meals we had ever had out. Yes the outside looks a bit rustic, but the food and... More

My wife has the Filet Oscar, said it really, really good! I had the top sirloin and it was great too! My Cadillac Margarita was very good, but my wife's pomegranate martini was too sweet even though she specifically asked for it not to be. They provide ALL the Classic fixings-beans, bread, etc. Prices are reasonable compared to some of the other... More

Unless you knew that this is a really good restaurant, you would never go there, but.... The food is really good. The quantities are generous. My wife ordered a steak, and loved it. I had chicken which was well seasoned. The restaurant is popular, and crowded. Make a reservation.

The restaurant is now called The Swiss. We have had several very good steak dinners at the Swiss. I understand that it is now under new ownership. I am happy to say that the quality was still high. The barbecued rib eye was delicious and served with a crisp green salad and a choice of sides. There are always beans... More
