It's a hole in the wall, but they know sushi.

It's a monthly habit to stop here when traveling. It's not a stretch to say they serve the best sushi on the central coast. Price is right, service is great, and the food is always right on.

The hotel staff recommended this what looks like a husband and wife run restaurant. Without the recommendation we most likely would not have ended up here. The decor is a bit busy, but in a strange way this gives the place its charm. Signs proudly announce its 31st anniversary. Don't expect dim lighting and soft playing music. It's all about... More

Great place to eat sushi! Good variety and always great quality. If you are in Santa Maria and hungry give this place a try. Not open on Mondays

I don't like sushi, so I can't rate this part of the restaurant. The cooked Japanese offerings are good, comparable to other Japanese restaurants I've in around the country. Pleasant environment. Quiet (ah, that's nice). Service good but also quiet (ah, that's good, too)

atari ya: the same owner for almost 30 years! will give sushi bars in Los Angeles a good run for the money. The rolls are huge. Almost too big for one person. Friendly and clean.

Santa Maria is a way-stop (and, I'm told, the Strawberry Capitol of the USA) between LA & SFO. We just spent the night here, and looked at Tripadvisor for a recommendation. Atari-Ya was well reviewed, and we're close enough to the coast, so gave it a try. I'll note here that my companion has lived extensively in Japan, is fluent... More

However, Santa Maria is not comparable to the many more restaurants in LA. While the food for me was "aight", it was a nice Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese. While the only sushi I had was the California Roll, I'm sure they can make good sushi had I ordered them (which I did not order due to my restrictive dinner... More

The service and food is always good and fresh at this particular restaurant. The family that owns Atari-Ya has always been very nice to me and my husband and we have never had any problems with our food. You can even order your food to go over the phone.

The food here is awesome because it is fresh and very delicious. The nice thing about eating here is that the people that work there treat you like a real person and the service is good. I can also say that this is one place that I don't get sick from. Thank you to all the employees of atari-ya.

Wow ... a Japanese-owned and run restaurant in Santa Maria & celebrating its 29th anniversary this year! Stopped by for lunch on the way back to Los Angeles with wife & 4 kids. Ordered the restaurant specials, Tofu udon & also tempura shrimp roll - excellent food - Oishi :)) and really value for money :)). Not surprising that kids... More
