With so little information available about this restaurant, we didn't know what to expect, but trusted the TA reviews enough to give it a try. Glad we did, because the whole experience was great. The location is "in the middle of nowhere", next to a volunteer fire station on the quiet, quaint main street of Santa Margarita. We got there... More

A trip to tiny downtown Santa Margarita is worth extra effort! It is hard to say which dish is my favorite because everything I have had has been delicious. I love their salmon with mashed potatoes and spinach with crispy fried onions on top. It has so much flavor in every bite that I really want to lick my plate... More

From the outside, this culinary gem of the Central Coast looks like an old-style cowboy bar in the Old West. Upon entering, you hear Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, and the hostess politely letting a caller know that they don't take reservations. In the entry, you see weathered album covers of country greats from the 50s and 60s. The hostess... More

We came down to Paso Robles to do some wine tasting and stopped here for dinner before going on to San Luis Obispo for the night. Be forewarned that they do not take reservations, and they only accept cash, i.e. no credit cards. Aside from that, wow, what a dinner. We arrived around 5:30pm on Thursday evening, just at opening.... More

The filet is extraordinary! The appetizers, amazing. Neither of us even reached for the salt and pepper shaker. Wine is a great local selection. Dessert was amazing.

Everything I've ever had here has been excellent. The service is always great and the staff is extremely friendly. I absolutely love their french onion soup!! I got the Rigatoni Bolognese this last time we went and it was very good. We also tried their cauliflower and beef appetizer which was very good too. I believe both were pickled and... More

We went to the Range on a Saturday night. They don't take reservations. We got there at 6:15pm they were already full.I recommend if you are going on a Saturday night go either at 5:00pm when they open or around 7:30 or 8:00 p.m when tables start opening up. The Range is very popular because their food is so good.We went... More

I went to the Range with my girlfriend to celebrate our birthdays. We started with an appetizer the dragon's breath. If you love lots of garlic and goat cheese this is amazing. But you will have Dragon's breath whatever that means. We each had a salad,I had the house salad my friend Micky had the salad special which was a... More

For my husband to say "this is the best piece of meat I have ever eaten" that is saying a lot. He ordered the filet and he said it literally melted in his mouth. My salmon was fantastic. Just know they do not accept reservations and they fill up quickly. Come check out this gem......

Our group of 14 had a fantastic meal and evening at the Range. Lindsay and her entire crew were the best. All of the food was outstanding! Cash only is a bit inconvenient, but we were prepared and made it work. We will be back.
