We went on the off season and it wasn't crowded at all. Got a table outside with a lovely view of the water. There is a glass enclosure which protects the outside eating area from any wind. I enjoyed the shrimp melt sandwich- was very good, just a little too runny- my husband really enjoyed the fried shrimp po-boy and... More

This place was recommended by a friend and I'm so glad we came here to eat as it was lovely. It's at the end of the pier and we went for breakfast so it was not too busy. The waitress was really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and child friendly as well. We all had a good breakfast... More

Living in the Bay Area we like to take little day trips and go for lunch. We originally were going to go to Moss Landing, but reviews of restaurants there were very so-so, so we changed our mind and headed to Santa Cruz to walk the (closed) Board Walk and find a place for lunch. Went to the Municipal Wharf... More

I went to this restaurant after a walk through Santa Cruz. It's in the pier (so not on the boardwalk). It's almost at the end of it: you can see a blue building. The place is nice, very "marine", we sat outside and ate clam chowders, crabs and fries. The service was fast, the waiter was extremely kind. The clam... More

We have enjoyed having clam chowder here. It is a good way to warm up on a cool Santa Cruz day. The location is just about perfect - right by the elephant seal viewing area on the Santa Cruz Wharf. Service was good.

We went to the Dolphin two months earlier and had a good meal at a fair price. But just recently we returned and were delighted to see that the prices were very reasonable still -a good idea in this bad economy (not everyone is a techie). The batter-fish and scallops were tasteless and substandard, possibly frozen? I certainly understand that... More

We live in Santa Cruz and usually go to other restaurants on the wharf. We finally tried this one several years/decade after it was cleaned up from the greasy spoon it formerly was and the outside area enclosed and sheltered. it is a beautiful spot at the end of the wharf. We had the ample fish tacos/chowder which we rated... More

I was really looking forward to eating here because of its location at the end of the wharf, however, my dinner was just about unedible. I had three fish tacos with pickled cabbage and it was so harsh and bitter tasting, I would not recommend it at all. The clam chowder was pretty good, two people at our table had... More

Ate here and it was just okay. My husband had the clam chowder and said it was very food. I had the pooh..not worth the money. It was greasy and had poor taste quality. The waitress was nice, but very in attentive.Save some money and just buy the chowder from the window out front and eat at a picnic table.
