Had dinner here the other night with a good friend. I had the filet of sole appetizer and the blue cheese and endive salad. My friend had the nightly special which was the scallops with pea purée. The service was lackluster - just not attentive. It was as though the restaurant thinks it's got a lot of people that come... More

A group of us had ridden our bikes from San Francisco to Santa Cruz on our way to Los Angeles for the AIDS Lifecycle. We had out of town friends who were joining us in Santa Cruz and I wanted something really good, without being to fussy. We were very casually dressed cyclists and did not wish to feel out... More

We love this restaurant, for the incredibly flavorful and often innovative food, the creative and expertly made cocktails, and the overall experience. Yes, it's often noisy, but lively places usually are. We try to go there as often as we can, particularly when celebrating something.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Oswald's for dinner last night for First Friday in downtown Santa Cruz. Well designed menu with a lovely selection of creative and garden-fresh salads. We enjoyed the scallop special which was served with a tomato garnish over butternut squash risotto. Delicious! Glen opted for the sautéed seasonal vegetables, which were perfectly cooked. Very nice... More

Not the least good thing about this place, is it is directly connected to a large multilevel public parking lot! The chattering, noisy bistro setting works well with the layout, friendly and prompt service and great food. Wine list was a bit skimpy and West Coast-centric, but adequate. We lucked out to find ourselves at Oswald during Restaurant Week, and... More

This was one of the best meals we had over our 5 week vacation. It was busy on a Thursday night but staff were attentive and explained the specials well. I had the crab starter and it was excellent as was the rest of the meal. Everything was fresh and well presented. Would recommend without hesitation

After a wonderful - but tiring trip - on highway # 1 we arrived Santa Cruz late in the afternoon on June 21 and discovered that the hotel we'd booked en route was a dump in the worst possible section of town. Discouraged and fatigued, we made the painful decision to withstand one night at the Torch Lite Inn, but... More

great dinner, good fun, even good value for a graduation weekend in a college town. We enjoyed all of the courses, esp. the desserts!

My family of 6 had a wonderful experience here for a family birthday. I was worried by the other reviews about the noise level in the restaurant, and though we went on a week night, it was a Wednesday when they have the prix fixe menu. It was crowded but not loud at all, and the waitress was very sweet... More
