I had been counting the days until I got to Santa Cruz to eat breakfast at Kelly's. Let me start by mentioning that the place is horrendously busy during most of the day. If you want complete silence to enjoy your food, go at 7am on a Sunday. Well worth it. I sampled multiple pastries (see photos). The bouche de... More

Kelly and Mark Sanchez worked and studied in France and Italy perfecting their traditional pastry and bread making skills. I loved the egg salad and this one is coin in history as one of my favorites. Enjoy!

We were visiting the area and wanted coffee before we headed out of town. We were greeted by a line of people waiting to order and a glass case filled with pastries, desserts, breakfast items and sandwiches. We did get coffee (Peets)...a chicken sandwich...and two desserts. Everything was fabulous. We arrived at 11am and there was a line to order... More

We stopped by for a late-afternoon snack after visiting the UCSC Arboretum, having spotted the bakery on our way there earlier. It wasn't too busy, and we didn't wait long to place our orders. A list of the day's specials were posted outside and next to the register...without prices. Since the menu ranges from macarons for $1.95 to fish tacos... More

This little bakery is going to become a favorite place of mine. It's located about three blocks south of Highway One. Take Highway One to Swift Street and head south about three blocks to Ingalls Street. It's nestled in with some stores in a small arty shopping area. It's an attractive bakery with a designer touch to whatever it does.... More

Large selection of baked goods and actually offer a great breakfast and lunch as well. Best part of it is the outdoor seating surrounded by shops. Gives you a little bit of that Old Europe feel.

Kelly's is a Friday morning breakfast tradition in our house, where the kids start school 30 mins later. I think by now we've had everything on the menu and have loved it all. Smiling staff, warm croissants, excellent coffee… Cannot go wrong. Go early…it gets busy...

Kelly's French bakery has great tasting goodies. Had poached eggs on Francese bread, bacon & potatoes, along with coffee and pastries. It is crowded, so come early and wait in line. Eating outside is great, however I noticed that many patrons were bussing their own tables! When the waitress brought our food, she cleared our table but didn't wipe down,... More

Every single item on the menu is outstanding - and I think I tried them all. Fresh pastries, with a robust selection of traditional items (breakfast burritos, fresh soups, etc.). The service is excellent, despite the pace they have to keep up. Only downside is that, because it is so good, it gets busy !!! But there is always a... More
