Best kept secret in Santa Cruz

Quaint location near wine tasting rooms - healthy selections such as salads and soup, paninis are mouthwatering and you'll be tempted with their assortment of desserts. Pies, pastries, scones, muffins, cookies. All freshly made. Excellent place to people watch and enjoy a meal.

Kelly's has rarely disappointed me. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is lively, and if you sit outside you can watch Brewer's Blackbirds. This is a popular place, but don't be deterred by the line--it moves quickly. I usually indulge in one of their French Pastries, and sometimes eat their delicious Fish Tacos.

We had an excellent breakfast here and you could tell the place was full of locals. It also looked like a great place to pick up sandwiches for lunch.

You can't beat an amazing sandwich taken outside on a chic patio -- followed by an even more amazing treat! This place was recommended to me by a co-worker and i am so glad we followed her advice!

This place is the best for coffee, breakfast, lunch, dessert, or anytime you want to feel happy and welcomed in Santa Cruz.I recommend the Poached Eggs with Smoked Salmon followed by one of their fresh-baked pastries for dessert. Great neighborhood feel. Leave time to shop, browse, or wander in this vibrant neighborhood. Walking or biking is the best way to... More

I had been counting the days until I got to Santa Cruz to eat breakfast at Kelly's. Let me start by mentioning that the place is horrendously busy during most of the day. If you want complete silence to enjoy your food, go at 7am on a Sunday. Well worth it. I sampled multiple pastries (see photos). The bouche de... More

Kelly and Mark Sanchez worked and studied in France and Italy perfecting their traditional pastry and bread making skills. I loved the egg salad and this one is coin in history as one of my favorites. Enjoy!

We were visiting the area and wanted coffee before we headed out of town. We were greeted by a line of people waiting to order and a glass case filled with pastries, desserts, breakfast items and sandwiches. We did get coffee (Peets)...a chicken sandwich...and two desserts. Everything was fabulous. We arrived at 11am and there was a line to order... More

We stopped by for a late-afternoon snack after visiting the UCSC Arboretum, having spotted the bakery on our way there earlier. It wasn't too busy, and we didn't wait long to place our orders. A list of the day's specials were posted outside and next to the register...without prices. Since the menu ranges from macarons for $1.95 to fish tacos... More

This little bakery is going to become a favorite place of mine. It's located about three blocks south of Highway One. Take Highway One to Swift Street and head south about three blocks to Ingalls Street. It's nestled in with some stores in a small arty shopping area. It's an attractive bakery with a designer touch to whatever it does.... More
