Santa Cruz Original still doing it ooh so good

When visiting Santa Cruz you have to go down to the wharf and see the sea lions while watching the beautiful Pacific Ocean at your feet. While walking on the wharf seafood will be mostly what you see offered, so don't fight it. Stagnaro has been around since 1879 and why not go with the... read more

We stopped because we were at the end of the pier and the menu looked good. Wish we would have stopped at a different restaurant. The fish and chips looked and tasted like fish sticks, the clam linguini was very watery and the kids burger was burned to a crisp. Prices were high for what you got. Not impressed and... More

It was a Friday night but only 5:30 PM when we walked in. They don't take reservations but I was told on the phone earlier that they don't start really filling up until 6 PM. We told them that it was our anniversary and want a quiet table and they sat us in a side dining area with only about... More

Walked from the Sea and Sand hotel, not too far. Wait was only 10 min for a window seat on a Friday night about 8:15. My 14 year old had 1/2 crab and was really pleased. We ordered bass but pretty sure it was swordfish. Taste was ok nothing special. The salad was bitter and watery- not good. I must... More

Nice views over the water and beaches. Efficient servers and friendly to. The Caesar Salad was good, and our friends told me the clam chowder was great. Average garlic bread.

We always stop in when we come to Santa Cruz. This time, we bought some fresh oysters to share with friends. They were wonderful and they even opened them for us, gave us sauce for free and put them in nice for us. Great service, fresh seafood.

Appetizer, main course dessert and beer, bottle of wine for four people -$130. I had the chowder and seafood tacos which were all excellent. Others had the seafood pasta and were similarly impressed. The apricot bread pudding was perfect for four people to share.

Stagnaro Bros has an enviable location near the end of the pier with wonderful views on three sides and very nice facilities. The service was excellent and the food was very good.

I've been going to Stagnaro's for years with my husband, it is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Cruz. The food is delicious and reliable; you can get a nice little chowder and sandwich deal, or a fancier seafood meal. Their special Apricot Bread Pudding is to die for. Stagnaro's is not an upscale gourmet kind of place, but... More
