A Visit To Remember

We visited the restaurant. The food was great as always. The crew is not like the old crew. We were not made to feel welcome at all in the upper deck. The service is not the same and the friendly atmosphere is mostly gone. Made to feel like be glad we are taking time to serve you. Rude seems to... read more

Always a solid choice for dinner on the wharf. Nice view, very consistent food and drink. It also has nice decor and atmosphere. One of the best views on the wharf. Nothing super fancy or gourmet but good not gross like some other places on the wharf...Oh yeah and the fresh seafood market is awesome too and competitively priced.

Gilda's is a much better option and is located about mid wharf. Gilda's has specials every night and has the best prime rib in town on a specials night.

On a recent mini-vacation to Santa Cruz, suggested to the wife that we splurge, for us, and have dinner at Stagnaro Bros out on the wharf. We arrived just before sunset, and was seated downstairs with a view toward Cliff Dr. The wife and I both ordered their Thursday night special, Prawn Scampi, she adding a bowl of clam chowder,... I have been here twice in the past few weeks and loved it both times. They have beautiful sweet small oysters with a cocktail sauce topped with shaved horse radish, simply divine. The clam chowder in a bread bowl is delicious too and there are many other delights on the menu. The staff are very friendly and the views from... More

Ordered the scallops on the recommendation of the server. I probably just didn't read the description carefully, but I was not expecting them to be swimming in a tomato-based sauce. They were just OK. Sat outside and had a great view of the sunset and the seals swimming around.

Starting with the drinks, I felt a little robbed. I ordered a pineapple juice that was served in a cup that was 3/4 ice. The crab cocktail had a grayish cast to it. It tasted as if it has been shelled the day before. My Ernesto Seafood pasta contained a large ratio of overdone calamari smothered in cheese. The red... More

Restaurant is on Santa Cruz Pier in Monterey Bay. It is Dungeness crab season. Crab Louis is on the menu for $22. Under these circumstances, it did not occur to me to ask if they use fresh crab in the Louis. They don't! Brownish, flavorless, frozen crab was used. When I queried the waiter about the crab, he brushed me... More

My husband and I love seafood and enjoy spending time at the Santa Cruz wharf. We had a light dinner at Stagnaro's: a fish sandwich, clam chowder and a salad. The fish sandwich was wonderful. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the fries were hot and crispy. The clam chowder was OK, pretty bland - but the clams... More

This is real people! Shelled Dungeoness in a paper cup with a side of butter. It was like a dream come true. This is at the seafood store location on the wharf. Best thing to ever happen to me. Simple, delicious and cheap, only $10 for a VERY GENEROUS portion. I'm so excited about this. I almost don't want to... More
