Loved the view

Food was tasty, but portions were on the smaller side...not $26 worth. servers were friendly. Downside they could not accommodate our request to seat 7, So my family and the other family had to split up across the dining room.

This use to be a great place to eat, but not on the day we were there, the service and food were not good. Talked with some other people after we left and were told it is the same everyday. BUD CARTER

We try to eat at off the main road places, places locals know, but others may not. We did get a few recommendations, and online reviews were generally positive, but our experience was just so so. The place is much smaller than it looks, occupying only the upper floor of a small building near the Santa Cruz Harbor area. It... More

Many tables sat open, but the hosts didn't feel like seating them. Servers weren't too busy, even one came up to tell the host they had a table open. Many other guests stood waiting around also, felt bad for the guy all dressed in his suit clearly on a special date - would have even given up our table to... More

We went with friends who love going to Santa Cruz Harbor and they recommended Johnny's. The weather had been cold and foggy, so we went early because we needed to get inside a warm place! We arrived early enough that the restaurant wasn't full, and our reward was the full attention of our excellent waiter. We feasted on several appetizers,... More

Nice place for a Saturday lunch, the oysters were fresh good. The fish tacos were very good, the sand dab sandwich was excellent. The service was very slow and the server blamed the amount of people for it. Nice wine list.

We have a house in the area and loved Johnny's, then they had a chef and menu change and we stopped going. Now, a new chef and menu and we have had dinner there 3 times and LOVE it. Our favorite is the fish selection, you pick your fish, how you want it cooked, and the accompaniment. I had Mahi... More

Had dinner here a few years ago and it was so-so. Tried it again recently and was pleasantly surprised. The menu was very innovative and diverse. The sea bass was offered sauted, grilled or blackened. I chose blackened and it was perfect. The presentation was excellent with brown rice, edamame and a light bernase sauce. We were a party of... We had requested a window table with a harbor view and were graciously accommodated. Service was attentive, environment was busy, a little too noisy. My hubby started out with the ceviche, I had the artichoke Asiago soup- both very tasty and paired nicely with the Conundrum white. Got my entree I had the halibut, sautéed and served "Parisian"- goat cheese... More

Johnny's has a pretty view of the small Santa Cruz harbor. A bit pricey for the offering, but the food was good and the menu had something for everyone. Pay to park, but the fee was super cheap at fifty cents an hour. Gluten free items were marked on the menu and the waiter was attentive enough to caution us... More
