Great scones!

I had a nice brunch here. There's a good selection of egg dishes and sandwiches, and portions are large. The meal started off with some really nice scones on the table, which set expectations that weren't quite met by the rest of the meal. Eggs were good, but the scones really nailed it.

Very good basic lunch/brunch. Sit outside and watch the weird world go by. Look for coupons in the "Good Times"

First the good news - waitress immediately dropped off 3 delicious scones at our table. Now the bad news... Everything else was sub-standard to awful! My wife had traditional eggs Benedict which was so-so... The breakfast potatoes on the side were bland. I was excited to try their French toast made from homemade sourdough, emphasis on DOUGH - poorly grilled... More

Went for breakfast twice and good on both occassions. Staff nice and friendly and the little scones before breakfast arrived were lovely. Coffee and water a little slow at being replenished on the first visit but not enough to put us off.

If you are vacationing and are on island time, this place might be fine for you. Even we, who were on vacation and had no place to go, where perturbed with the wait. Once seated, (outside which was a plus on this mild evening) waited at least 10 minutes before we saw anyone. Bread girl gave us bread but didn't... More

I loved the cozy atmosphere. I love the scones that they serve before breakfast arrives. Hospitality was awesome. Breakfast was superb. Loved the way they took care of us. We found a place for our visits to Santa Cruz. Can't wait to go again and listen to some jazz.

Strolling around looking for jazz and decent food and stumbled upon Hoffman's. Downtown Santa Cruz is not a hotbed of "good" restaurants, so we did not have high hopes, but Hoffman's hit the spot. Not only do they have decent food, but they had a three-piece jazz combo. Apparently, they have jazz 5 nights a week. If you want entertainment... More

This is the second time we have visited this restaurant right in downtown Santa Cruz. The food was excellent. I had a California Burger and a friend had some German Jaegerschnitzel. In the background was some nice live jazz music. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there.

We went here because they had advertised live jazz, which unfortunately turned out to be not very good. This place looks like it has been unchanged from the 50's, with booths on one side and a long wooden bar on the other. Not a mention of either kale or chard on the menu ( a plus in my opinion). The... More
