My friends and I stopped in at the Silver Spur on the recommendation of a friend while on a recent road trip along the California Coast. We were very glad for the recommendation--it's not necessarily the kind of place that we would normally have stopped in at, but it was definitely a treat! We were there for a late lunch... More

Great personal service with an adventurous menu. Breakfast omelettes made with local ingredients, baked goods "home made"' local sausage and fresh fruit. The only thing missing was dark roast coffee and an espresso machine. Really good breakfast fare!

This is our favorite breakfast and lunch spot in all of California. The staff is great, from the greeters and waitresses to the cooks, who you never see but REALLY can appreciate. The menu is online, so you can get an idea of the wide variety of choices. They also have specials daily and different types of muffins everyday. My... More

Heard so many good things about this place, so I was finally able to try it. Small restaurant, very crowded and noisy. Felt like I was in a sardine can and felt very rushed to eat. If you are looking for a nice, causal breakfast place, this is not for you. Staff friendly, food average, nothing that is outstanding to... More

We wanted to try something other than Gayle's breakfast. SS is a find. Good fresh food and very reasonably priced. Perfectly sized portions. Substituting fruit for spuds was not a problem. Friendly service. Only drawbacks: closed on Sunday, no reservations, noisy when crowded -- but it's crowded for a reason!

Small restaurant so go early but nothing fancy. Food is good and down home. The only suggestion I may have is that if you want "crispy" bacon, make sure you tell them that doesn't mean "burnt". Good buttermilk pancakes. If noise bothers you, I would probably go somewhere else.

Excellent food. Service was great. The one thing we do not like is buying drinks with no refills. Buy each one unless you get Coffee or Water. Will not be back at all.

Was visiting friends in Monterey and was heading back to the airport, when we stopped in for a quick lunch on a whim. We were kinda aimless trying to find a place, when we just decided on this place. I will say before I write more, this was some of the best food I have had in my life. The... More

Have been going for a few years. Wish I had known much earlier! First thing today,I signed in at the front door for last hour lunch. Then i waited outside and read a Good Times newspaper. The hostess called my name, and even came out to the front benches to wake me. I ALWAYS look at the Specials boards. The... More

Popular place for breakfast, you'll probably have a short-to-medium wait so get there early. Good food with ever-changing specials, have had breakfast there numerous times and always left satisfied. Good portion size, not for those who are counting calories or trying to lower cholesterol. That said, the constant lines out the door give a local endorsement, if you are in... More
