dinner before a concert

Good service, very well prepared food. But they substituted a different fish for the one I ordered without mentioning it. I was surprised to receive salmon instead, but it was perfectly prepared so I did not object in that we were going to a concert.

We lived in Santa Cruz County for almost 6 years and have never been to this restaurant until last week. This restaurant is upstairs in the Old Santa Cruz Hotel...the architecture of the building is worth a visit on its own...and the architecture adds to the cool vibe old school ambiance. It has a fireplace and lots of lounge seating areas... More

I stopped by the Red Restaurant for Restaurant Week and found a new favorite. I got the steak entre and it was the best steak I have had since moving to Santa Cruz 20 years ago! The wait staff was excellent and helpful. Since I have a bazillion allergies this is a critical point and they were so helpful. Also,... More

We went to Red for the last day of Restaurant Week. We did not have a reservation and they were very friendly and accommodating about not having a table but offered to serve us in the bar. We really wanted a dining experience so asked to wait for an available table. They made us feel welcome while we waited and... More

Creative and delicious! Loved the jalapeño appetizers, Brussels sprout chips, and fun cocktails. This might be the best beet salad I've ever had, topped with crispy golden beets and goat cheese.

You need to not hold on to people's ID cards, because if you forget to give them back to people who are not used to leaving theirs with the bar, they will forget and have to drive a long distance sometimes with no time in their schedule to get it back from you.

I've called repeatedly this evening but your staff apparently doesn't care about picking up the phone during business hours. My guest and I were verbally assaulted and harassed by your staff at the door. Over a hat. It was totally okay for them to verbally assault us, flip us the bird, and cuss us out because we questioned them about... More

The food is only very average but the cocktails are great! The Jean Grey is my favorite (earl grey infused gin, fresh squeezed lemon, simple syrup served up with a sugar rim). Go at night for a cozy feel with the rugs and couches. In the daytime its too easy to see all the stains on them.

My boyfriend and I came here to meet up with some friends for drinks around 11pm. The DJs and the vibe were great. It was an eclectic mix of music including pop, hip hop, reggae, and some 90s music. I had a deliciously refreshing cucumber mojito. It's also a diverse crowd in terms of age and ethnicity.
