Quirky, but good

Stumbled here for lunch in Santa Cruz, party of 4 looking for something better than Pizza or Burger I had the gluten free quiche with blue cheese salad, and local beer - fantastic, fresh and flavoursome. Couldn't manage a dessert but they looked fantastic. Liked the "chocolate' pipes on the... read more

Walked down to enjoy dessert and coffee. Seated immediately on a chilly night and that was nice. Big wooden tables and comfy seating. Waited a very long time for a server to appear. I like to linger over a meal but not wait that long to get started. My husband ordered an item marked gluten free on the menu, but... More

Chocolate is located on Pacific Avenue, next door to Bookshop Santa Cruz. It's a cozy spot with colorful walls and an Old World feel. The name of the restaurant announces it's specialty, but it also serves entrees, some with exotic sauces containing chocolate. We were seated indoors at an oversized wooden table and hard wooden bench-- with pillows that we... More

Having hiked the strange medicinal buddha trail during the morning we stopped here for lunch. I am not a Specialist on the details of the mole sauce, but found this very nice. Good local beer to go with it.

Next to the Santa Cruz Bookstore, we literally stumbled into the restaurant. A group of nine ranging form teenagers to mid-fifties found then most delicious food imaginable. Although the deserts are to die for, the appetizers and main courses were more that able to hold their own. Fantastic food and favorable tastes all the way .... the atmosphere was cozy... More

My friend and I went here to grab some dinner and it was great! I loved the outdoor seating and the downtown location. We shared the fondue, which was delicious, and the Mediterranean salad, which was also super tasty. The homemade dressing was light but packed with flavor, and there were pistachios on the salad too! Who doesn't love pistachios?! There... More

We ate here after a stop off in Santa Cruz on the recommendation of a friend who had visited the area before. I had the sundried tomato pesto sandwich which came with the most salad ever. Husb had soup and salad. Both were just what we wanted after a drive down from SF and getting rained on at the beach... More

We were desperately hungry after a long day of hiking and just the word "chocolate" makes me salivate. What a disappointment! Service was apathetic.Food was deplorable. For $18.00 I had the pork shoulder. Six or seven tiny pellets of bone dry overcooked pork. What they called a potato gallette was actually a slice of flavorless, cold potato quiche and a... More

Chocolate seems to try very hard to be a small French cafe on the sidewalk. Service was very good but the food seemed a bit lacking. It was not special in any way except for the chocolate bby sauce. The swordfish sandwich was very average. The BBQ Pork was good and the chocolate bbq sauce was intriguing. All in all... More

A restaurant named chocolate that has over 10 chocolate desserts (and some mains)??? Who could resist? Anyone who could is probably not compatible with me :). Before I could respectably get to dessert I had to order a main. I tried the cashew curry salmon - delicious! I didn't care for the potato pie, but it came with a nice... More
