Great sandwiches!

We read about this place in the Lonely planet guidebook on California and decided to get some sandwiches for our drive south on Highway 1. It was a small line but it took more than 20 minutes to get our order. They were pricey, about $ 8.50 each, but they were with it. Fresh, generous and tasty!

The sandwiches were pretty good here. I got a grilled cheese with avocado which was tasty and my husband got a chicken, pesto kale, and from age blanc sandwich. Both were tasty. We also got a chocolate milkshake which was unbelievable. They use great ice cream. The inside was a little dirty and did not have air conditioning. The service... More

Nice cafe, okay coffee (Verve), but the trucks parking to unload to the various cafes and hotels along main drag compromised the outdoor seating. The indoor seating is cramped and not very comfortable. The food is delicious, but not worth the aggravation.

The food is incredible. No one can make a sandwich like this restaurant. The soups, salads and bakery are wonderful. Great for lunch. Service is friendly but slow. Seating can be difficult at times. Still worth the wait. A must go.

The Picnic Basket is considered one of the better eateries in Santa Cruz: it offers fresh, local fare at high prices (e.g., a breakfast burrito consisting of potatoes, cabbage, jack cheese and a flour tortilla costs $9). Too bad the service and setting aren't on par with the food and prices. On a relatively quiet Tuesday morning, I waited 25... More

I found this eatery while doing a search for fish less restaurants. Since my allergy to seafood is so high, I was excited to find a place that seemed to have decent pricing and was totally fish free. This is a deli style eatery, not a restaurant, it is very small and always crowded, the inside was a bit grubby.... More

The staff were super friendly, and all of the food is made fresh to order. The ingredients are something I would buy at home for my family - great quality - the breakfast burritos are AMAZING! This was my go-to for coffee in the morning. I am a starbucks lover, and this coffee did it for me. THANK YOU!
