Quality Food in a Terrific Vine Covered Courtyard

I love eating outside so being able to do so here was quite a surprise. They have a courtyard enclosed by three story tall buildings all around. Quite enjoyable because of the sculptures and vines. Great service and excellent menu. Favorable experience all the way around.

This is a very popular restaurant in downtown Santa Cruz. I hadn't made a reservation --it was a Tuesday night-- but after a less an welcoming greeting, I was seated at the bar, which was fine. The complimentary bread and dip are excellent. But the watermelon salad --promoted as a daily special-- was boring spinach instead of tasty arugula, goat... More

We arrived just as they were opening for dinner and we're lucky to snag a table on the patio near the fountain. Incredible and delightful atmosphere, with attentive and welcoming service. The food was delicious. My husband had the trout, well prepared and tasty and I had the eggplant glazed with pomegranate. Exquisite. Lovely place. So glad we decided to... More

We come every year to SC for the Cabrillo Music Festival in August and have made this a traditional table stop. Probably one of the best restaurants in Santa Cruz. Start out with mezze appetizer platter. Sit in the courtyard in the early evening sipping on a cool glass of wine... it's quite nice. Service is friendly.

Excellent lunch menu and attentive service. Try the flatbread for a good dish. Nice atmosphere and great outdoor seating.

We stopped in for an early dinner. We shared the Mediterranean plate, a watermelon salad and lamb kabobs. Everything was wonderful.

Superb meal, a spectacular bounty of flavors! Unlike anything I've ever eaten! First we were served a freebie of warm flatbread with a mixture of oil, vinegar, and chopped tomatoes, cucumber, garlic and other stuff--very good! We shared a starter platter of hummus, baba ganuosh, tsatsiki and tabouli. The humus was bright yellow orange from the addition of butternut squash,... More

I thought the food was delicious. We had lunch in the courtyard and it was beautiful. Service was very good too. Each dish had interesting flavors. I'd go back again on a future visit.

Based on the reviews here we tried Laili for dinner while staying one night in Santa Cruz on a road trip. All we can say is - it's a must try if you are looking for very good food and attentive service in Santa Cruz. Highly recommend!
