This place varies between very good to just average. We eat here about once a year. Sometimes fantasti, sometimes so-so. Today, great lamb burger with terrible & old stale oven fries. My saffron chic wrap was fantastic, but came w a limp salad. I've had 5 star dinners & 2vstar dinners. If they could get the quality & consistency down,mid... More

I love the space and food specially when I go to have lunch with my family. It is the favorite restaurant of my daughter. After meal at Laili's, I recommend to cross the street and have a delicious coffee or tea at Lulu's.

I've been going there as often as is practical for over a year, and they are consistent, careful and oh yes the food is great. We have to stop praising Laili or it will get too popular. Santa Cruz has so many over-hyped, mediocre restaurants that Laili seems like a miracle.

We stopped here for a very satisfying lunch. The choices of soups, salads, pasta and wraps were a sort of fusion Afghan food. The lunch special of bolani, soup and greens were a good deal. We also really loved the lamb burger. The melding of flavors in all the dishes were wonderful. Would love to try eating here for dinner.

The service is great, excellent food and very nice wine list. The menu is inventive and the pairings of traditional plates with exotic spices and sauces makes it fun and worth the price. We were grateful get a table without a reservation. The naan with squash and yogurt appetizer was the beginning of a delightful dinner.

We arrived late on a dark, cool night in the center of Santa Cruz, and found the welcoming lights of Laili. Interesting place this, with a fun menu influenced by Afghan cuisine. Unfortunately, it was too cold to eat out in the attractively-lit courtyard, al fresco. We ordered what turned out to be a very good house red, and shared... More

The food here is interestingly spiced and very delicious, with Middle Eastern influences. The owner is Afghan. Come here if you want to try some new tastes, not if you are a meat-and-potatoes type of diner. We sat in the very pleasant courtyard. Service was lovely. Prices are very reasonable. The place is deservedly popular, and was busy in the... More

We went for a mid week meal and took full advantage of the £25 restaurant week menu - 3 courses with three options per course. Starters were delicious I'd love to have the recipe for he three bean and lamb soup to recreate this at home. For main my husband had the chicken kabob with three tasty sauces and I,... More

Friday night dinner with friends and the reservations worked, getting us in the door, past the line on the sidewalk. We ate on the patio and needed to use our cell phones to light up the menus. Appetizers were very good, specially the garlic infused oil and naan. Entrees, mixed reviews. Service was light speed. I thought the portion sizes... More

We stayed in Santa Cruz for two nights and ate at Laili two night back to back. Beautiful restaurant, very nice patio. We tried mantoo dumplings, bolani turnovers, a flatbread, beef koubideh, lamb kebab, pistachio cardamom ice cream and cardamom pudding. Delicious food. We'll definitely eat there again.
