As a student living in Santa Cruz, it's nice to go to penny's every once in awhile just to see what new and unusual flavors they have. And the best part is that you're never disappointed. And if you have any boring non-adventurous I've cream people, even the vanilla is perfection.

Now, I've had a LOT of ice cream in my time on this Earth and this was by far, the best I have ever had.....ever. My fear is that I will have cravings for it now from time to time, with no possible way of getting to it, living in Chicago and all. I had a scoop of the honey... More

We had read good things about this ice cream place so we went in with high hopes. They had some unusual flavors that we were anxious to try, like strawberry pink peppercorn; and the look and feel of the place was inviting. The staff was friendly and quick to offer taste samples. We ordered two double cones so we could... More

I always tell people to go here when they go to Santa Cruz. The basil ice cream changed me bahaha. The sister restaurant on the main strip is very good too.

Used to love this spot, but saw a ghastly expose about even "humane" cow milk and my heart is way to broken to see stolen calf milk (meant for a baby bovine, which is not good for humans) that's been stolen from a calf who's on their way to a veal crate from a chronically impregnated mother cow, just can't... Do I need to say more? They taste like regular cones. Its the only place I've been to in the last five years that has a cone I can eat. Yes their ice cream is amazing and the constantly changing selection makes every visit an adventure and is always worth eating but nothing is quite as good as ice cream... More

Let's see... homemade ice cream from scratch, local and fresh ingredients, flavors as quirky and fun as the town where it's housed. As the line out the door testifies, this is THE place for ice cream in downtown Santa Cruz! They even have gluten-free waffle cones. The worst thing about going here is deciding which flavor to get! Highly recommend... More

We love to stop in after dinner for a cup of richly flavored ice cream. Today's treat was Salted Caramel. Simply the best.

A group of us dropped into Penny Ice Cream on a recent weekend trip to Santa Cruz and everyone from age 20 to age 85 left happy. There are a lot of creative flavors in both ice cream and sorbet. The ingredients were real, local and fresh, they even put Jack Daniels in the whiskey ice cream and you could... More

The ice cream flavor selection and the ways to get it made up - reallllly good. Usually a line here - it is worth the wait.
