I have been here several times with family and friends and have never had a bad experience/meal! Our favorite is the mushroom ravioli...not always on the menu. I have been to Italy a few times and their food takes me back to the real deal. It is a small place, so if you go at peak times, be prepared to... More

This place was fantastic. We had the Bucatini and Gnocchi. It's the real deal, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Visiting Santa Barbara and wary of the many tourist traps, I took a risk and asked Suri where the best lunch place in Samta Barbara was. She told me Via Maestra. Well off the beaten path up State street. In a lovely neighborhood. I pull in to a small strip mall. A little apprehensive but hungry I decide to chance... More

A cafe within a deli. Loved the authentic Italian food, the relaxed service and the cosy atmosphere.

I love this place. The first restaurant I think of when I want simple but excellent food, great smells and the chatter of a small room filled with happy people. The staff are friendly and make one feel very welcome. They don do reservations and it can get crowded but if you call before you leave they will usually ensure... More

Via Maestra 42 was near the top of my (native Santa Barbaran) list from the time it opened -- until my last visit there, earlier this month. OK, maybe it was an off night; but my appetizer of "Carpaccio of Bresaola" (misleadingly named, I think) consisted mostly of a lot of arugula; and the polenta was lumpy underneath a very... More

My wife and I have traveled to Italy a number of times and Via Maestra 42 has gelato that rivals what we've had in Italy. Amazing! The food is wonderful and the gluten free gnocchi is excellent! The staff is very friendly and helpful!

This small cafe located in a strip mall next to the post office with a parking lot for a front yard has developed a loyal following. I suspect this is due to the feeling that you are in a small place in some urban Italian destination, a bit off the path with real locals. Certainly this is not a Michelin... More

Really nice Italian restaurant. I thought it was a bit expensive (especially $10 for a glass of wine (although it was good!)) but the food was really nice and good service. When we visited there it was completely full and had a great atmosphere.
