This little place is a delight. You will feel like you just stepped into a family run restaurant in Italy. Everything is fresh and really delicious. The pasta is never overcooked. My husband loves their squid ink pasta, but I am more traditional. Don't miss this place.

We dine here once in a while and this time only one meal out of five was acceptable. It was a weeknight, they were short staffed and needed more help. But that's not all. My son loves their lasagna bolognese and what they served tasted like they just microwaved/heated it. It was hot on top and warm in the middle,... More

My wife and I had lunch at Via Maestra yesterday and it was a total success. The restaurant is located on upper State Street just past where Las Positas crosses over it. Not a very big place but has patio seating which is shaded and very cute. We went in to give our order and I saw something I had... More

Kind of weird eating next to the local post office but if you can get past the exterior the food was awesome. Derek our waiter was super helpful. Let us taste the white wines to ensure we got the one we wanted to pair with our meals. The Salmon was cooked perfect. We will be back!

We actually visited in May 2013. We had to queue for a seat (always a good sign) which gave us an opportunity to see the food being passed out from the kitchen. Not only do they have seating but the deli was mouth watering. Having only had airplane food we were desperate for food that would welcome us to the... More

I have been here several times with family and friends and have never had a bad experience/meal! Our favorite is the mushroom ravioli...not always on the menu. I have been to Italy a few times and their food takes me back to the real deal. It is a small place, so if you go at peak times, be prepared to... More

This place was fantastic. We had the Bucatini and Gnocchi. It's the real deal, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Visiting Santa Barbara and wary of the many tourist traps, I took a risk and asked Suri where the best lunch place in Samta Barbara was. She told me Via Maestra. Well off the beaten path up State street. In a lovely neighborhood. I pull in to a small strip mall. A little apprehensive but hungry I decide to chance... More

A cafe within a deli. Loved the authentic Italian food, the relaxed service and the cosy atmosphere.

I love this place. The first restaurant I think of when I want simple but excellent food, great smells and the chatter of a small room filled with happy people. The staff are friendly and make one feel very welcome. They don do reservations and it can get crowded but if you call before you leave they will usually ensure... More
