The staff is always the most friendly group of people. Even on Saturday night's when they are packed & busy running around. We took my 2 year old nephew with us to dinner & they were very accomodating for his age. We will be back again soon

This is a gem of a Japanese restaurant, right in the heart of Santa Barbara. The décor is right on, with a choice of tatami room or table. Tempura was light and fluffy, not at all greasy. Service was excellent. A bit of Kyoto in California.

We love the reliability of the sushi at Kyoto. We almost always sit at the bar and enjoy interacting with the sushi chefs. The fish is consistently good and the prices are very reasonable. They have a few tatami rooms that you can reserve and nice for large parties. In the tatami rooms, there are usually large parties on Friday... More

I discovered Japanese food before the craze. I look for experienced Japanese chefs in a traditional Japanese environment. Not impressed here with service attitude or quality of food and saki but other folk seem to like it.

Excellent show, excellent food, portions are good, excellent place for a date, but before you know it you have a 200 dollar bill. Watch out for that. If you play it safe youll walk out with your wallet intact.

What a great meal was had by all at this terrific upper State St. restaurant. As a frequent visitor to Asian restaurants in LA, I did not expect the great quality of food we had. Terrific meal , very nice atmosphere and great service. Sushi was tasty, combo dinners and nice choices of unique dishes - yosenabe, sukiyaki, et. al.... More

Had dinner with family. It was crowded. The staff were diligent in turning the guests around quickly without being intrusive. We therefore have to wait only a short time before being shown to our table. We chose a selection of sushi and a set dinner. The portion was bigger than what is found in most sushi restaurants. The taste was... More

We went on Monday at 6:30, and it was almost full. They sat us way in the back, which was fine. We had to wait a long time to get water and order. The table was a little grimy, and the decor and dishes could use a redo. The sushi combos were excellent and very generous for the price. Once... More

We arrived on a Friday night, and a good sign was that it was really, really busy, with people queuing up for seats all the time. We only had to wait a few minutes for our table. We ordered a set meal to save the bother of working out how much and what to order, and we ordered a meal... More

Try to avoid on weekends when the college kids celebrate by yelling and pounding on the tables to make the shot glasses balanced on chopsticks fall into their drinks. Despite that, the food was delicious and the waiters attentive.
