The Mesa isn't the most touristy part of Santa Barbara so I don't generally look to that area for high quality, but Ichiban could be very successful downtown or in Montecito because it is high quality and attractive - though I believe the prices would be more and it is refreshing to see prices this reasonable. I will be back.

I have always liked Ichiban. Good and fresh. Several years ago, the old owner retired. The new owners have done a great job of keeping what was good and improving many other things. New menu with new combinations. A little more polished presentation. Just appropriate changes that make this that much better.

My wife and I eat at Ichiban about 5 times per month. The fish is always fresh and top notch. The servers and sushi chefs are great at remembering the customers and always make you feel welcome. Prices are very reasonable.

I am an international student studying at Santa Barbara City College. This restaurant is very close my school. I like their Korean short ribs and eel rice bowl.

We use to go with my husband at least twice a week, the fish was amazing not fancy but fresh fish, we stopped going the last 8 months, the fish was terrible, Spanish mackerel was not skinned and tasted awful, we gave it another chance and still BAD. They increase their prices and you can have better, much better sushi... More

We have a few fancy sushi places in town, this is not one of them, but do not be fooled because this place is great. It is goo for almost any occasion or no occasion at all. It is a great place to go with a family or with friends for lunch or dinner. The hamachi you cannot beat. The... More

If you like your rolls large and lose, this is No. One! If you like your rice Luke warm, this is No. One. If you like your decor Midwest Cafe style, this is No. One! If you are not familiar with really good sushi, available just about anywhere else in town, this is No One! If you're on the Mesa... More

It was busy when we arrived on Friday night, so we reserved a table and went along for some cocktails at the nearby Alcazar tapas bar whilst waiting for a table to become free. There are three types of seating: traditional japanese matting where you have to remove your shoes and climb in (impossible for the disabled person in our... More
