Charming, romantic, quiet . . . a "special occasion" restaurant

One of the smallest restaurants in town, I would think. Menu may be limited, but it was big enough (good variety); wine list was superb. Service respectful, unobtrusive and classy. Lovely setting, intriguing menu, fine service, but the food was just flavorless. I had the meatloaf, he had the sesame crusted salmon, and everything was so bland we couldn't finish. The crusty bread was great.

Anne and her wonderful team at this restaurant consistently do a phenomenal job across the board. This charming little restaurant has a wonderful patio to enjoy a business luncheon, romantic dinner, as well as inside dining for friends and family to share a delightful lunch and or dinner together. From the starters, to the salads, entrees, topped off with dessert... More

My wife and I had our wedding reception dinner here after a small 10 person wedding at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. We booked the private room with The Upham and had dinner served by Louie's. The dinner, desserts, and wine / beef were all fantastic, and we all had a great time. The room was spacious, private, and aesthetically very... More

I was part of a group that ate at Louie's. Because we were part of a group, the menu was limited, but I was certainly very pleased with the options and the quality of the food. I had a salmon dish that was very well prepared. The service was excellent (sometimes harder in a group setting). I also thought the... More

Had dinner on a warm March evening at Louie's in the historic Upham Hotel downtown. Sat inside because the porch tables were already taken. As usual, service was relaxed but attentive and the food was excellent. I had two starters...the scallop and shrimp cakes with asparagus, and peppered shrimp with avocado...both were excellent...light and flavorful. My friend also had the... More

Louie's California Bistro as it is now known is hidden away in the Upham Hotel. Off the beaten path on a quiet residential street, it is an oasis of loveliness. Seating both inside and on the side deck is very comfortable. White table cloth fine dining yet casual. The food was very imaginative. I started out with crab and scallop... More

We had an unexpected change of plans suddenly and found ourselves at the Upham. We did not have any dinner arrangements and we were road weary. We took a quick look at the menu at Louies and asked the maître d', Nick if he could get us a seat. With a great smile and tremendous flare he offered to squeeze... More

Louie's is located in the historic Upham hotel. Small inside space with cute veranda tables outside also. Food is fantastic, my co-workers crave the meatloaf. I had quiche of the day which was Carmelized onions, spinach & Gorgonzola (yummy!) couple blocks off State St, worth it!
