Another Lovely Dinner at Louie's

Had dinner on a warm March evening at Louie's in the historic Upham Hotel downtown. Sat inside because the porch tables were already taken. As usual, service was relaxed but attentive and the food was excellent. I had two starters...the scallop and shrimp cakes with asparagus, and peppered... read more

Louie's California Bistro as it is now known is hidden away in the Upham Hotel. Off the beaten path on a quiet residential street, it is an oasis of loveliness. Seating both inside and on the side deck is very comfortable. White table cloth fine dining yet casual. The food was very imaginative. I started out with crab and scallop... More

We had an unexpected change of plans suddenly and found ourselves at the Upham. We did not have any dinner arrangements and we were road weary. We took a quick look at the menu at Louies and asked the maître d', Nick if he could get us a seat. With a great smile and tremendous flare he offered to squeeze... More

Louie's is located in the historic Upham hotel. Small inside space with cute veranda tables outside also. Food is fantastic, my co-workers crave the meatloaf. I had quiche of the day which was Carmelized onions, spinach & Gorgonzola (yummy!) couple blocks off State St, worth it!

Louie's is a terrific jumping off point for a New Year's Eve celebration that is distinctly Santa Barbara. Book an early reservation and relax over a quiet dinner tucked into a cozy nook at Louie's located on the ground floor of the Upham Hotel. After dinner walk, yes walk a couple blocks to the beautifully restored Grenada Theater for the... More

Louie's is a great little spot. It has a nice, cozy vibe that is different from the beach places. We sat on the porch, which is nicely laid out, had warmers, and was decorated for the holidays. We arrived when they opened for lunch at 11:30. Service was prompt and attentive. Their chicken and romaine salad was great. Louie's is... More

We had a delicious appetizer with shrimp, avocado, and salsa. Followed by a yummy entree of angel hair pasta with sole. Highly recommend this place for a quiet, not real expensive meal just a few blocks off State Street.

We hosted 43 friends and family for a wedding rehearsal dinner at Louie's, the day after Thanksgiving. It couldn't have been better. The service, the food and the attention to detail was simply wonderful. From the minute we called to make our initial inquiries, I knew we had found 'the spot'. Communication was tops and menu planning was seamless, accommodating... More

Charming veranda-dining at this Victorian favorite in Santa Barbara. Was with a good friend who had his dog with him. Who knew that you could dine at such a fine establishment and bring your pup along? Awesome service.
