Great lunch in the attractive courtyard--don't miss the paintings in the excellent gallery on the way in. Soup and half-sandwich special was a lot of food, and just delicious. Waitress gave helpful suggestions.

Had lunch here this past weekend. Very charming and beautiful setting. The soup which was asperagus and mushroom was wonderful - could have had two bowls and the 1/2 pastrimi sandwich was so tender. Will definitely make this a repeat visit when coming to Santa Barbara. A real hidden gem!

Excellent spinach salad with steak. Fresh baby spinach and steak cooked perfectly. Only trouble was the rather slow water and coffee service. I'm looking forward to returning again soon.

We had a fantastic lunch here in the courtyard, which is really the restaurant. Excellent crab & corn bisque, 1/2 pastrami sandwich which also comes with small side salad..enough to make it also dinner… almost spoiled our dinner, but have no fear we made it to Bouchon! Would not have known of Arts & Letters without the recommendation of the... More

The six of us returned, yet again, for this delightful, well-staffed spot just off State Street across from the museum and set just behind a superb gallery. We shared delicious fresh salads, sandwiches, soups and desserts and enjoyed the most acceptable wine list. Set in a lovely courtyard with an adjoining room, what could be better for an afternoon break... More

Tucked behind an art gallery is the charming and delightful Arts and Letters Cafe, set in a garden complete with fountain. The menu features soups, salads sandwiches and pasta -- each a tasty treat. We had the noodles of the day. Pasta was home made and the sauce delicious. Both the pumpkin and curry soups were outstanding. We would definitely... More

Although just a lunch location, its ambiance and food quality make this the favorite spot for many locals. I've tried lots of salads and sandwiches on their menu and am never disappointed. From the Pumpkin Soup to the Curry Chicken it all tastes fresh and keeps the palate engaged. Walk through what is probably the best gallery in town to... More

Charming little place that unfortunately isn't open for dinner. Patio dining there would be delightful. Food is good for a sandwich joint! Like I dais... Wish it were open for dinner.

Open for lunch only in a quiet courtyard tucked away on Anacapa St, sits this wonderful gem of a restaurant. All of the tables are situated around a central fountain; the menu is simple but sublime. I had the avocado BLT which was a beautifully executed, tasty sandwich. Their pumpkin soup has gained some notoriety and it's easy to see... More
