Description: Established in 1985, The Palace Grill is a Santa Barbara landmark restaurant featuring authentic New Orleans-inspired cuisine and a fun, lively atmosphere. Winner of The Santa Barbara's Independent Reader's Poll for "Best Restaurant Service". Located in Santa Barbara's charming Old Town district, The Palace Grill has something for everyone. Our menu features a wide range of contemporary American Grill items with a focus on authentic Southern and Louisiana specialties such as Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffee, New Orleans Bar-B-Que Shrimp, Blackened Filet Mignon, and delicious daily "Menu Additions". In addition we have a number of exciting Caribbean dishes and a line of Creole-Italian pastas. To insure that we remain authentic, the Palace routinely flies its staff to New Orleans to experience first-hand the magical quality of the city that has inspired the spirit of the Palace Grill. The Palace has been featured in dozens of national publications including Gourmet(R) Magazine, Bon Appetit(R) and USA TODAY(R). Throughout the years, The Palace has also been a favorite of culinary legends (including chef Julia Child and chef Wolfgang Puck) and has served its cuisine to countless global dignitaries - including 5 U. S. Presidents. At the Palace Grill, everyone shares one goal: to give our guests the most extraordinary dining experience possible: every time they visit. Besides our wonderful cuisine, The Palace is known for it's unique style of "Team Service" (which the Nation's Restaurant News called "an idea whose time has come") and our nostalgic nightly staff and guest Sing-A-Long to Louis Armstrong's iconic song - "What A Wonderful World." Come join the celebration known as "The Palace Grill Experience."

I want to go back to Santa Barbara just to eat here again. Everything was perfectly cooked, and the entire menu was a pageant to tempting dishes. Definitely a special restaurant.

Great service, very friendly. Great fish dishes. Atmosphere not evident but possibly due to not being very busy.

This is a solid restaurant, but I gave it up to the tourists along time ago. One time we went and I could feel the daggers in our backs because we didn't give the table up soon enough for them. Thats pretty rude in my book considering we dropped a bundle there. The food is solid there but certainly nothing... More

It's always great hearing from locals like you, Jamie. Your support helped us get where we are today -- the quality restaurant that even travelers like to visit. I'm sorry if our busy nights bring customers that might chip away at your dining experience, though. You're always welcome to make reservations with us for lunch or dinner to avoid the... More

We were walking and found this restaurant and decided to try it. The food was great and so was the service. The waitress brought us a sampler of muffins which were tasty. There gumbo had great flavor with just the right spice. Their delicious dessert completed our memorable meal. Service was great and their staff was polite and courteous. We... More

This is one of our favorite SB restaurants. It is really an iconic SB establishment and worth the wait in line. I believe they only take reservations at the 5:30 sitting but if you have a wait, there is usually outdoor entertainment and it is fun to talk the other people waiting in line. Make sure you order the popcorn... More

Thanks for all the wonderful compliments, Julie! The blackened salmon and filet are two of our favorites too. It's always great hearing from customers who have been visiting us for a long time -- we appreciate your business and support. We look forward to seeing you again soon! We were getting tired of pizza, Mexican, fast food...at the end of our vacation so we opted for Cajun. The restaurant is fun and accommodating. We ordered Crawfish Etouffe which was flavorful, and not too salty. We also tried the scallops. Wonderfully broiled in a light sauce. The waitress came by prior to the meal with a sealed card. Once... More

So now you know, Kirsten: we love any excuse to celebrate. Glad to hear you had fun joining in on our musical productions! Likewise, I'm happy to see you enjoyed our Cajun cooking -- I look forward to sharing this with our team. If you're ever in Santa Barbara again, stop in for a singalong! Some restaurants manage a combination of atmosphere, service, food and drink in which the sum is far more than the parts. Such is the case with the Palace Grill. I have been eating here for over 15 years and never had anything but a great meal and experience. In recent visits a shared sampler plate and Red Stripe beer has... More

It is so wonderful to hear from loyal customers like you who have been visiting us for years. And that we're one of your favorite restaurants, not just in the nation, but the world? Stellar. That makes our day -- no, our year. Our bread pudding soufflé is one of our favorites too. Have you also tried the chocolate soufflé?... More

I have eaten here many times, and will eat here every opportunity I have in Santa Barbara. You just can't beat a restaurant that has outstanding service, GREAT food, drinks that are worth their money, and a friendly atmosphere. The Oysters Cajun are unbelievable! And so are the Oysters Rockefeller. My husband and I wanted to split a filet that... More

I think I know what you're trying to describe here -- we call it the "Palace Experience." It sounds like you enjoy experiencing good food in good places and I'm very happy to hear that you and your husband enjoyed the filets (and the Oysters Cajun is one of our favorites too!). Thank you for letting us know how much... More

We were a little surprised given the glowing reviews. The food is average although the menu descriptions would have you believe that you are in for a culinary feast. My salmon had definitely got to know the oven for longer than it should have done. None of the others were that inspired by their food. The waitress was fine but... More

Thank you for the feedback! It's great hearing from travelers who came a long way to visit us. It's a little disappointing to hear you didn't enjoy the lively atmosphere we're known for, but off nights can happen. And I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with your salmon. I suggest the Palace Sampler next time for a variety of... More

We found this restaurant by accident as we were walking by. We stopped for lunch. We were so glad that we did. The service was very friendly.
