While the location looks promising, the food and service prove it to be a waste. They had several large parties there while we were dining and all the tables were acting horribly. Lots of loud cheering and getting out of hand with the alcohol. After an hour of screaming we complained the manager. The noise got a little better, but... More

This is a lovely place. It is a Santa Barbara tradition. Great for kids - they can watch them hand make the tortillas. With so many new places popping up, I love that this place is still as lovely, fun and well, just Santa Barbara- esk! I especially recommend checking out their Taco Tuesdays! Have Fun

Whilst on holiday in Santa Barbara, my wife and I popped into El Paseo between lunch and dinner for a coffee and a sweet treat. I don't recall how we heard about it, but we expected to find an interesting location with period art throughout. The interesting thing about the restaurant is the courtyard area where seating is located. The... More

An extensive menu of authentic Mexican food and some surprises on the menu as well. We had a large party and they accommodated us well. The staff was helpful and the building was a gorgeous historic space - just beautiful.

Stopped in here on 10/16/13 to have a glass of wine with a friend. The bartender was very attentive and gracious. Plus, they had a happy hour special of half price appetizers. Then I had a tequila, a good one, recommended by the bartender. We had a good time and will go back.

This is a first class restaurant. So much history. Lovely setting. Very quiet when we went so perhaps not the atmosphere you would normally get. Great service, great food. Would certainly recommend. Not too hot either. We had Fajitas. Would love to go again if we get chance.

I lived in Santa Barbara for many years, only realizing that this restaurant was tucked away in the Paseo when my fiance (who didn't live in Santa Barbara!) took me there. It's hard (but fun) to find, set back from State Street and away from the madding crowds. The interior is a large open courtyard at the center of a... More

Must have the tableside guacamole and El Paseo Margarita's!! The ambiance of the courtyard and candle light encourage a romantic dinner between my boyfriend and I. Although the greeting of the table was behind (probably cuz they were packed), the server was attentive to our need! Great time, see ya in a year!!

We dined while it was still light and sun came through the atrium roof. Lots of wrought iron, white linen and a fountain emphasized the Spanish atmosphere. The food, however, was only average. The restaurant was largely empty and no one else entered while we were there. A shame really because it is a lovely space.

The setting on the patio is pretty, but isolated from the State Street scene. If you are not in a hurry, waiting for a concert to start, and want reasonably priced drinks and appetizers, I recommend it. We hit happy hour from 4-6, and I enjoyed the shrimp diablo, what there was of it, but my bloody mary was a... More
