Fully met our expectations

Reviewed this restaurant's menu online before we went there. Saw a few items which we felt were on our list for that evening and popped by for dinner. Opal is a very popular and crowded restaurant in downtown Santa Barbara, but there are better choices in the area. On the night we were there, our only option for a reservation was at 6 PM - for a weekday about three weeks in advance. Our table was ready, and our waitress was efficient but not particularly friendly. At the... More

We have enjoyed Opal for many years, and it has never disappointed! I have eaten here for lunch and dinner, with one friend for a quiet catch-up, or 20 people celebrating something. Reservations are highly recommended. From pizza to duck, there is something for everyone, and Opal is very conveniently located next to the Arlington Theatre, and a block from... More

Went last minute, suggest you make reservations. We were able to sit at bar, but would definitely have preferred table seating. The service and personell, are excellent, they were so welcoming. The food was very good, while I found my chicken to be overcooked, a tasting of everyone else's, proved to be excellent, as well as the starters. The cocktails... More

I had lunch at Opal twice this week. Ordered the bouillabaisse on the first visit. The seafood was over cooked and the broth was not very flavorful. On the second visit, I tried the bay scallop/ spinach salad. Scallops were nicely cooked and plentiful but the spinach was drowning in salad dressing. Ate the scallops and a few bites for... More

I had my birthday dinner here. I selected it because of the diverse menu, reviews, and price. We were blown away. Everything here was good! We had drinks, an appetizer, dinner, and two desserts. My whole party loved every single thing we ate. We couldn't get enough of it. Three people in my party ordered steaks. Each one took a... More

We've gone to the Opal Restaurant a few times. The last two it has been excellent. Great ambiance, interesting menu, and consistently great food. It's a very reliable bet for dining in Santa Barbara.

We enjoyed a nice Valentine's meal at Opal on the recommendation from family members who had visited it before. We arrived a bit early and were seated right away. The sea bass with cherry couscous and skirt steak were very good. As a matter of fact, the skirt steak was the best preparation I have ever had. My wife really... More

I was attending the SantaBarbara film festival. It was next to The Arlington theatre. Which was where many of the Tributes were held. Well after the first night. I kept coming back. The food and service was Wonderful. They gave me Table #90 outside. I could watch easily what was going on. The sunsets were beautiful right from my table.... More
