A decent find for a potentially romantic dinner

This is a relaxing place to have a nice dinner, potentially romantic, but not intimate due to tables being close together. An emphasis seems to be on the wine, the food can be prepared very well, but there were a couple of occasions the main course was overcooked, but they were accommodating by... read more

This is an amazing place. It is constantly busy. The menu is very broad with numerous options fort almost any preferences one may have. The wine list is very good and the stemware and service is as good as it gets in SB. They have a great wait staff and the owner/ management team is impeccable.

Opal is a very busy place. It is not quite at French Laundry status of Napa fame, but one cannot be too cavalier about procuring a reservation. Luckily, we planned ahead. Although Opal is hip and trendy, the prices on the menu will almost have you thinking you stepped into a chain restaurant. There are a lot of items under... More

We had tickets to see Antman at the Arlington Theater and were running late. The hostess quickly sat us down, the waiter took our order, and we had our terrific food in no time. The food was incredible. My husband ordered the seafood paella and I ordered the chicken. Our children had large plates of penne pasta, which they charged... More

We went with our 2 young children and have a great meal. There is no specific children's menu but they had a set of basic meals for kids and were very adaptable.

Opal is a restaurant that is not pretentious, efficient and friendly wait service, reasonable good food, and a comfortable atmosphere. We had mainly appetizers for dinner - ahi tuna, shrimp, crab cake; all which were good. We also tried the paella but it was more saucy than how we prefer paella to be made - though it was tasty. Overall,... More

They do it right! From the tables outside, to the wine bar, to the interesting and varied menu, this pair of restauranteurs got it right. Their cuisine is hip and consistent, the decor in modern without trying too hard, and the service is second to none in town. Whether it's a gourmet pizza, or a four course formal dinner, Opal... A long-time favorite. The food is good, with a specials menu each day. Great place for lunch (lot's of locals doing business here). The salmon with lemongrass is always on the menu --a great choice. Opal is very busy in the evening, so reservations a must--unless you want to wing it at the bar. This is not a gourmet foodie... More
