We were a group of 8 ladies in town for a bachelorette weakend. Opal restaurant was recommended by my aunt who lives in town. It lived up to the rave reviews. The menu was very extensive and everyone found something they wanted. The food wasn't top quality, superb, nor finely executed but I have to admit I am a food... More

We went on a very busy night and there was a major musical in town and customers had turned up for pre show meals. Notwithstanding this the food was superb with plenty of choice and the service was good and friendly. No problem recommending this restaurant.

Located on State St. in the heart of the Arts District is one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. Overseen by Owners Richard and Tina the wait staff is courteous and well informed. Recomendations about wine pairings appear in the menu and on the daily specials page. The fare runs from Mediterranean influenced to classic Californian wine country.Being a... More

We had dinner at Opal on a Friday night after a friend who lived here recommended it. This place is popular with folks going to a nearby theater, so we were given a 6pm or after 8pm seating option. So at 6pm a lot of parties were being seated, but we got a nice window seat. Since we weren't on... More

We were a group of 6 looking for a good dinner in Santa Barbara while on a business trip. We booked fairly late and the restaurant was very accommodating. The evening started on a great note with friendly and prompt seating, and continued to be a great evening. The service was great, the food excellent and the wine and a... More

Great food. Unique flavors. Nice location. However service was weird. Our waitress abandoned us in a middle of our diner. Bill was brought by a manager who took care of the rest. Kinda weird. Almost like our server didn't want to serve us

My folks and I ate at Opal while up from LA for the weekend. We showed up about 45 minutes before our reservation but they were able to rearrange a table and fit us in. They went above and beyond from the moment we walked in. The waitress was excellent (can't remember her name) and made us laugh every time... More

Sorry we never got to eat there but after the attempt to make a reservation, it was probably just as well. You have to call to book a table, leaving a message and someone is suppose to call you back. Well, no one did so I called back a day or so later in the evening. The hostess who answered... More

Nice energy at Opal on a Saturday evening. Seats are close together and bar area can spill over to seating area if it is crowded. Menu was eclectic and innovative. Extensive wine and cocktail options, many with fun twists. Many nice options for the herbivore and carnivore in your group. Food was fresh and well prepared. Waitress was attentive, helpful... More

The food at Opal was well prepared and very good. The menu readily accommodated the vegetarian member of our group of 6. The service was knowledgeable and attentive. Given the preparation quality, the wait for the dinners was not long. Perhaps more importantly, they were very ready to address problems. I ordered a mushroom stuffed chicken breast. It came with...
