We arrived at 6pm with no reservations on a Thursday. we were seated at the last open table. There are many choices of both food and beverage. The food was very good, but the atmosphere is only ok...it is also a little noisey

I had lunch at Opal with my family. It was a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. A good choice for a group. Everyone ordered something different - the Smoked Chicken and Avocado Sandwich, Vegetarian Gourmet Sandwich, Opal Chinese Chicken Salad, Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Arborio Risotto with Sauteed Wild Mushrooms, Fresh Asparagus and Artichokes. Everyone left satisfied, the food was very... More

Just a great "joint" with a terrific menu, generous cocktails and a knowledgeable wait staff. In the heart of the State Street restaurant district, right on the shuttle bus line.

Loved sitting out front seeing State Street go by. I had the pasta with shrimp and it was very good. The service was good and we were in a large group which they handled well. Everyone enjoyed their food, and our server helped us with the need to balance our individual dietary restrictions. Tasty and fun.

Recommended by our hotel, this central restaurant has rather simple and unimaginative decor. But don't let that put you off. It boasts a very eclectic menu, with several Asian fusion items, supplemented by daily specials. It's vast and varied wine list was paricularly challenging. Three of us went for one of the signature dishes: lemongrass-crusted blackened salmon with julienne of... More

Lots of well made choices. Excellent wine list. Great for lunch or small groups. Some unusual choices on the menu. Place is beautifully designed.

We always get the salmon with a Thai sauce which has great flavor. We have been coming here for years and always enjoy Opal. Great location on State Street too.

My Risotto with mushrooms was EXCEPTIONAL...rich, but what Risotto isn't? My whole family enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately, we were too full to order from their exceptional dessert menu.

Opal may not be the fanciest restaurant in Santa Barbara, but it is my favorite "go to" for almost any occasion. It is the place I take out of towers for California cuisine. It is my favorite place for New Years. It is certainly the best value in Santa Barbara--not counting the most inexpensive options for tacos or burgers. The... More
