We've been here several times. The food is good, if a bit pricey. Good wine list. Service is variable, this last time it wasn't superb, but not really negative, just kind of neutral. Maybe she was new? The noise level seems to have improved a little, too. If you like good food, this is a place you should try.

We left it late in our trip to eat here which was a shame as this was the best meal of our stay but without any time left to return. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. All four of us enjoyed what we had and I would think that everything on the menu would be good.... More

Once again a wonderful meal! The slightly tight quarters of this restaurant only add to the fun of enjoying good wine and food. There are a couple of window tables (we got one) that add interest to the surroundings and are a little away from the bustle. Sidewalk seating as well, if you like. Innovative treatment of local sourced ingredients... More

Our family stopped by for lunch on our way thru the area. The food was excellent and I would eat here all the time if I lived in the area.

I have lived in Santa Barbara for many years and have walked by this State Street restaurantmany times and have noticed that it seemed to be busy every time I passed by. I recently was entertaining some out of town guests, we were downtown on State Street and were walking by the restaurant near dinnertime so I decided we would... More

Although we had reservations, they insisted on seating 3 of us at a table for 2 even though larger tables were available, It was also odd that that when we said we had reservations they would try to fit us in. Huh! I thought that was what a reservation was for. The food was OK at best. The seafood was... More

We went here on the recommendation of the hotel staff. It was packed with people shouting at one another (even the staff) because it was extremely noisy. The service was good, the food was below average and expensive and a bit pretentious.

This is an inventive place with very good food, very good service and reasonable pricing. We took a dozen people to Opal and were welcomed warmly. The meal was great after a pleasant trip through a very extensive menu and a wine list that could take hours to fully absorb. Atmosphere is a comfortable but sophisticated city setting like you...
