Good food at reasonable prices. Very busy place. Can be very noisy. Service good. Reservations are a must.
We started making Santa Barbara our weekend get away a couple of years ago. With so many great restaurants we promised our selves that we will try a different one each night we are there. awe broke that promise with regards to Opal. We enjoyed it so much the first time, we had to go back. We chose from the... More
The Opal Restaurant & Bar located on the upper end of State Street has to be one of the best & most consistently delicious restaurants in Santa Barbara. We have been going here for years (even when it was called Brigette's) & have never, ever been disappointed. The menu is so creative, everything fresh, & quite diversified. The atmosphere is... More
Hoping for a low-key weeknight evening out with friends, we selected Opal for its diverse menu. The menu includes that evening's specials as well as the regular items and features a fairly large wine list, with some very interesting choices, albeit all at an eye-watering mark-up. Service was professional and cordial. Food was attractively presented. Would recommend the kitchen to... More
The food, service and atmosphere at Opal were all terrific. The place is cozy, and can get a bit loud, but everyone who works there seems genuinely interested in insuring a great experience. Call ahead, then go and enjoy!
Very nice restaurant. Service is always good and food is always excellant. Make sure you get a reservation because they are always busy. Great place for dinner before a visit to the Arlington Theater.

I sent it back and waited while others ate. It came back the second time a little more cooked but still raw in the center so sent... More
Opal is a jewel. Reminiscent of a Parisian brasserie, Opal offers up excellent food, a very nice wine list, and knowledgeable and professional service. Our party of four each ordered different appetizers and main courses, and all agreed that everything was really delicious. A few years ago we dined here and enjoyed it a lot, but our recent visit confirmed... More
Two weeks before Christmas we stopped in for a late lunch at this quiet gem. We later learned this place is a favorite with locals, and we can see why. Our server was absolutely outstanding, knowledgeable about the wine list and helpful with recommendations for both food and wine. We shared a delicious tomato vegetable soup, along with a main... We were looking for a romantic dinner while visiting Santa Barbara and the Opal didn't disappoint. We did make a reservation and were quickly seated when we arrived. Service was really on top of it, prompt, attentive, but not intrusive. The food was amazing though. My wife had a herb grilled filet with vegetables and I had the paella. Both... More
