Just discovered Cold Spring Tavern this summer on a drive from Solvang to Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara was, surprisingly, awful as it was nothing but a bunch of boring chain stores in the downtown area mixed with the pungent odor of dried piss, but Cold Spring Tavern, several miles outside of town, was great. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner.

This is a must experience restaurant! The history alone is fascinating...Intimate yet lively evening. The menu varies daily and if you enjoy a selection of wild game to dine on...Please add this tavern to your list of Don't Miss experiences! We have a vegetarian in our family and she enjoyed her meal as well. One addition bonus...I have stopped here... More

Recommended by a friend we made this a stop on our road trip. Tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Very charming décor and history. I had one of their salads, it was excellent, my husband had a BBQ beef sandwich. His meat was a little on the tough side, however very tasty sauce. We enjoyed the ambiance of this... More

Went on a busy Sunday afternoon for lunch and had a great meal. Was not expecting gourmet, but good comfort food and can say that this place exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be going here a again and will recommend it to family and friends who visit the area. The rustic atmosphere reminds me of North Carolina. Staff was... More

We live in the area and have visited Cold Spring a number of times, but it's been over 10 years so we stopped in for lunch on the way to Santa Ynez. We've never been impressed by the food, and we weren't this time either. They have a limited menu, so you'd expect them to knock the basics out of... More

We've been to Cold Spring Tavern 2 Father's Day in row now. We are greeted by people of all kinds: bikers, hippies, the elderly, children, and hipsters alike. Our group is large with lots of kids and we are dirty as heck because we have just finished camping for the weekend but we are met with smiles and open arms.... More

Liked the old rustic building. The appetizer platter was good, but the shrimp were overcooked. A local couple recommended their pizzas, but they only make them on Fridays.

Found this restaurant on a Santa Barbara website for locals. Beautiful drive to get there. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch and it was not crowded. Décor is very rustic and the buildings have been there a long, long time making it a truly unique experience. We had the chili burger and the famous Tri tip sandwich. Sides... More

This is a unique little place that has been around since the stagecoach days. We stopped here with some friends while traveling through the area. The menu has a good variety of game type food like duck, rabbit, venison etc. We had lamb and the ribs (a more traditional meal) and it was very good. The service was good and... More
