We have had several meals at Sakana(mainly for lunch) and have been quite impressed. Vast variety of cooked dishes and sushi. One of us does not eat raw fish, and the menu has plenty to offer for her as well. Wait stuff is polite and efficient. Food is prepared and served remarkably fast. Nicely appointed interior and food is presented... More

Insane! I'm pretty particular about where I'll eat sushi. Sakana is one of them. When I'm in the Santa Barbara/Montecito area, Sakana is it! Little place but a cool vibe. Secret spot without being a secret spot! Quality of the fish is excellent! The worse part of the menu is all the choices. So many good choices makes it difficult... More

What flavors! It's safe to say we have had our say of various sushi in the U.S and this place gets a big thumbs up. Sat at the bar and watched the sushi chefs create some amazing flavorful sushi. The sauces give the sushi an extra pop of flavors, you don't even need soy sauce. The basil sauce, papaya mango... More

I plan on eating here at least three times on a four day visit. I think the Sakana Tower and Montecito roll is the best suchi outside of Japan.

If you don't like sushi, or tasting your fish, smother it with 5 different heavy-handed sauces or eat at Sakana. The presentation was sloppy, my rice was all falling apart. Among around 300 items on the menu, I must have ordered freezing cold egg with lukewarm mushy fish and pools of goopy sauce. The servers passed us our orders over... More

what a great place to dine. we love the 'sakana tower'. a column of crab, tuna, scallops and caviar with the most beautiful presentation. but the menu never ends there. ask the sushi chefs for their on-the-spot creation and for us, it has never been anything but fantastic. enjoy...

This charming sushi bar is the gem of Montecito and very popular with the locals. Our waitress was great, she was very pleasant and responsive to all of our needs. The food presentation is fantastic and the sauces are to die for. So if happen to be in the area Sakana will not disappoint.

Delicious fish, tonite I enjoyed sashimi - Ono, Mirugai, Tako, Ika, Toro & Sake. Also had the Blackened Yellowtail Press Box, beautiful presentation & taste. The California rolls & Yellowtail sushi were very good as well. This is a busy & smallish restaurant so bring your patience.

Being a former sushi chef, I get asked all the time where my favorite sushi restaurant is. My answer: When you walk in the door of your favorite restaurant, you should always be treated like "royalty". Part of the reason the mom and pop sushi restaurants still thrive in Japan is "rapport". You sit at the counter as you would... More
