If you don't like sushi, or tasting your fish, smother it with 5 different heavy-handed sauces or eat at Sakana. The presentation was sloppy, my rice was all falling apart. Among around 300 items on the menu, I must have ordered freezing cold egg with lukewarm mushy fish and pools of goopy sauce. The servers passed us our orders over... More

what a great place to dine. we love the 'sakana tower'. a column of crab, tuna, scallops and caviar with the most beautiful presentation. but the menu never ends there. ask the sushi chefs for their on-the-spot creation and for us, it has never been anything but fantastic. enjoy...

This charming sushi bar is the gem of Montecito and very popular with the locals. Our waitress was great, she was very pleasant and responsive to all of our needs. The food presentation is fantastic and the sauces are to die for. So if happen to be in the area Sakana will not disappoint.

Delicious fish, tonite I enjoyed sashimi - Ono, Mirugai, Tako, Ika, Toro & Sake. Also had the Blackened Yellowtail Press Box, beautiful presentation & taste. The California rolls & Yellowtail sushi were very good as well. This is a busy & smallish restaurant so bring your patience.

Being a former sushi chef, I get asked all the time where my favorite sushi restaurant is. My answer: When you walk in the door of your favorite restaurant, you should always be treated like "royalty". Part of the reason the mom and pop sushi restaurants still thrive in Japan is "rapport". You sit at the counter as you would... More

I am reluctant to sing the praises of this tiny little local frequented sushi restaurant tucked away at the end of a nondescript mini mall behind Starbucks as it would mean that the 30 minute waits for a table might get even longer. But we have been going here at least once a month ever since the place opened a... More

It is the BEST especially for someone just getting into sushi! It's pricey and in Montecito but small and worth every penny. I do not eat the sashimi or as much of the raw stuff but the rolls and press boxes are awesome! The sauces are to die for.

Sakana is my favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara. Other reviewers who have called the chef an artist are absolutely right. Everything I've had here has been amazing! The chef's omakase creations are always the highlight of the meal for me. Although the restaurant is often crowded, I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a table.

Beautiful plating, innovative sauces as well as traditional sushi. Popular place and very small, so waiting to be seated is not uncommon. More expensive than most, but worth it.

Tucked away in the corner of a shopping center in Montecito, this little restaurant is a MUST if you truly appreciate the best in Japanese cuisine. Not your standard sushi/sashimi/sake restaurant, Chef Nao and his staff prepare some of the most creative and delectable appetizers and unique dishes we have ever eaten. All of the food is perfectly prepared and... More
