I've been a fan of La Super Rica for years, and always make it a point to eat there when I'm in town. My fave taco is the #6, chile pasilla tacos w/ onion and cheese--to die for! Their horchata is also excellent, and they serve it year-round, which is a plus! The lines are WORTH IT! If you go... more

My husband and I always stopped at La Super Rica on our way to or through Santa Barbara when we lived in Orange County. Now that we live in Santa Barbara, we go to Super Rica as often as we can. It wasn't one of Julia Child's favorite restaurants for nothing; the ingredients are fresh and cooked to order. As... more

Foody's love this place. Explore some of the more exotic dishes. If you think the only way to judge is by a carne asada taco...go elsewhere. Would not think a visit to SB would be complete without a trip or two to La SuperRica more

I don't quite get the rave reviews from the other foodies. I felt the carne asada tacos were average at best and on the expensive side. Although the owner was very friendly. To get the best go to Lilly"s Tacos, they are by far the superior taco. more

Having read about La Super-Rica Taqueria for years, most notably in Robb Report and Wine Spectator, I eagerly anticipated my first visit on my recent trip to Santa Barbara. We stopped by after a full day of winetasting in Los Olivos, and were surprised and delighted to walk right up to the window, as everything we'd read had indicated that... more

We walked from the pier (about 4 km) to find this restaurant that the guide book raved about. There was a line-up of about 25 people and the cafeteria type seating was packed. The food was authentic, but overpriced. Considering what can be had elsewhere, this was a disappointment. The portions are small and no better than other Mexican restaurants... more

Let's start with the handmade, fresh tortillas. How many of us actually have a place to get them? Burritos are of course made from a Spanish import - corn tortillas are the original Mexican food. The fillings are traditional. Rajas, for example, are commonly eaten in many Mexican and Mexican-American homes - but rare indeed in a restaurant. Whole fresh... more

I love this place. The food is super fresh, authentic Mexican fare. The homemade tortillas are made to order, the ingredients are the real thing, the seasoning is fantastic. Try the Super Rica Especial and the special veggie tamale. It's funky but locals love it. more

After eating there several times, I must say that it is merely average. Not terribly cheap. Not any atmosphere to speak of. Very, um, eclectic corwd. Food is solid, but not exceptional. Tortillas are the best part of the menu - fresh, warm and a bit thick. I would eat there if I was in there area, but since it... more
