Can't pass Santa Barbara without dining here!! Favorites are the Super Rica Especial #16 (spicy pork with Pasilla chile and melted Monterey Jack Cheese) frijoles with bacon, handmade tortillas, and the chilaquiles which are the special for Mondays or Thursdays. If you're lucky (in the summer) they will have the watermelon drink which consists of small diced pieces of watermelon... More

Not only did Julia Child love this place, so does much of Santa Barbara, judging from the lines that snake out of the place. It's a dive for sure, but the food is a little slice of heaven, starting with home made tortillas. As mentioned elsewhere, the portions are small, but oh are they tasty!

The menu is expansive and it's always a challenge to know what to order. After waiting in line for about 15 minutes (we went early) I decided to get the pork soft tacos. The meat is amazing and there is lots of it. I split it up between the two soft tacos and there was plenty for a meal. Very... More

we went on a monday night when we were already hungry and so the hour long wait was difficult. Go before you are hungry! We asked a local lady in front of us in the queue what she recommended and she said "no 7 and 8 and 16" . I can't remember what they were but they were amazing as... More

This place is family owned and they do it RIGHT! Everything is made to order, hand pressed tortillas, fresh salsa, meats & veggies grilled and seasoned to perfection. There is typically a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it. The prices haven't changed since they opened (cash only). Very simple, relaxed setting. Place your order at window, grab... More

I moved from TX to CA 12 years ago. My husband always tries so hard to take me to good restaurants in the Bay Area and nothing ever comes close to what I consider "real" Mexican food. He always talked about a taco stand in Santa Barbara that Julia Child gave amazing reviews to. I respect Julia as a chef... More

The reviews of this place are right. Good Mexican food at reasonable prices. There was a small line when we got there and a little wait for our order to be prepared, but we were completely satisfied. This is an order from a window, pick up at another window and find a place to sit on their patio type place.

Last year, in February, we were blown away by Super-Rica's food, and came back to try it again. Big disappointment. We ordered the #8, a dish with meat, mushrooms, onions and peppers in sauce atop a tortilla. We had loved it last year. This year it was dry, and the tortilla tasted like an undercooked pancake. Our other order was... More

I went to Super-Rica recently after a long hiatus and THEY STILL ARE THE BEST. Even tho it was almost unbearably hot, crowded, and they were clearly under staffed, the food was DELICIOUS. They did not disappoint. It is hard to avoid a line but we didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes and a table was available when... More
