A Santa Barbara Insitution!

Everybody who comes to Santa Barbara MUST go to Supa Rica. Don't mind the line, it moves fast and it's worth the wait. Featured on TV and numerous blogs, books, reviews etc., this Mexican eatery is simply the best of its kind. Serving tiny street tacos and other delish treats before, they became... read more

I will not discuss whether or not the real Mexican food. What I know that I experienced an extremely tasty food, made with super fresh ingredients, performed in front of the customers, fast service and rows and rows of people at the door! A very good experience in terms of gastronomy. The restaurant is penalized by the "simplicity" of the... More

Look up this place online and you will read people debating whether or not this Julia Child's endorsed taco joint is the best or not. Yes the lines are long, and service sometimes slow, but the servers were really nice, and more importantly the food was delicious. My family of four sampled half the menu and honestly were pleased with... More

Locals enjoy arguing rather or not La Super-Rica deserves its reputation or if it is just riding on Julia Child's coattails. I just know that I always enjoy their food and beverages when I come here. There's usually a line (and I hate lines), but it usually moves fast. I won't get into which Santa Barbara taqueria is the best,... More

I love this place. My preference is the 8, grilled chicken! Salsa VERY good. Homemade tortillas. Just devine!

Although still very popular and food made with fresh ingredients it seemed lacking some of its former spark. It has been about 5 years since last there and I remember having a great meal. This time it only seemed average.

I've read a ton of reviews about this place. Some saying its completely overrated, some saying it blew them away and was the best taco on the planet. I have one stance, and my fiance has the latter. I guess I was being naive, but with all of the Julia Childs praise, I didn't expect a dirty taco stand on... More

A must lunch stop on the way to Los Angeles. One of the most unique Mexican food menus we've ever come across. Everything is listed on a board beside the order window and as you order you watch a women make hand made tortillas and cook them right in front of you. Talk about a fresh taco!!! The prices are... decent food at a good price but I don't know that I would stand in line again. I figured I would give this popular taco stand a try. Not disappointed, but maybe not worth the wait. I don't typically do taco stands, but found this one to be clean and the service was friendly. Good was authentic and tasty.

We stop here every time we pass through Santa Barbara. We are vegetarians and love so many of the Super Rica dishes--mushrooms, nopales, green beans, rellenos. Last time we visited, we waited an hour in line, and it was worth it. Send one or two of your party to thrift shop next door while you wait. Great horchata too.
