Fabulous

Seriously good, strong, coffee in a very cool environment. Nice service, patio really awesome. And they serve killer pastries as well. Get the chocolate croissant!

Loved this place. Fun minimalist atmosphere with great espresso/coffee drinks. We also enjoyed a delicious oatmeal scone with strawberry preserves and a pain au chocolate. I would highly recommend a quick stop at this place. You can also easily walk to the Santa Barbara County Courthouse from here to check out the Spanish architecture/ historical monument.

Hipsters are abundant. Delicious java and even better pastry. Always packed and always consistent. Parking can be a nightmare in the area, so if you get a spot, don't order your coffee to go....stay and enjoy all the groovy patrons.

We were staying at the Spanish Garden Inn just around the corner. Unfortunately we didn't stop for coffee until the last night of our stay as it was included at the hotel. We would have visited every morning if I knew! Beans being roasted in the lobby, great friendly staff and a variety of specialty coffees. We brought home a... More

Without a doubt the best coffee spot in Santa Barbara. Located across the street from one of the most beautiful historical sites in town, this place has good people, great coffee, and a great space to sit and enjoy a hot or iced beverage. They also offer croissants from another local favorite of mine, Renaud's.

Good selection of coffee; sweet rolls' offerings could have been better, but the ability to purchase a baguette to enjoy with butter and jam made up for it. There is plenty of seating indoors and out, but it does get busy and a line to purchase the coffee and whatever else one wants with it is pretty long. But a... More

Husband the coffee snob was enamored and declared Handlebar makes better coffee than his regular cafe in the Bay Area. Rich, thick, creamy lattes. We also enjoyed the cortado and cappuccino. Pleasant, open space with plenty of seating. Attentive staff cleared the tables and kept the bathroom clean. My only beef was with the gluten free muffin, which was pretty... More

I wish these guys would open up two or three more locations. When they first started there were small lines and you could get some of the best coffee drinks you ever had in your life in just a few minutes. Now you need a book to read waiting in line to order. They have gotten such great reviews, all... More

"Thank you" so much for the review! Aaron and I are so sorry that locals have to wait in a long line and we are trying to figure out how to speed things along. We are going to add a second espresso machine and perhaps have a "brewed coffee/tea" line as well because those drinks are quick. It's the espresso... More

This is a great little coffeehouse that's a bit off the beaten track of State Street in Santa Barbara. My friend and I were getting overheated after a strenuous morning of shopping, so we opted to have the Espresso milkshakes. Wow. They are made with the fabulous McDonnell's (?) ice cream and are seriously good. The atmosphere brought me right... More
