Pancho & Left on Mother's Day

My kids and I took my wife to Cielito in Santa Barbara on Mother's Day this year. It was a lunch rather than "brunch" but they served both breakfast and lunch items at 11:00 AM. I had the biscuits and gravy that was unlike anything that I have ever had. The biscuits had jalapenos baked into them... read more

The guacamole was fantastic, as were the chips. Husband had the crab and shrimp enchiladas with creamy poblano rice. I had the pork tacos and the chorizo tacos. We split everything between us. OMG, so good! Husband had the Chocolate Caramel Semifreddo - sinful!

First of two nights in Santa Barbara and this place appealed due to the 'mexican tapas options. Cool venue with double height ceiling and a fountain out front with live turtles in it. We had a couple of cocktails at the bar but these were mexican themed (smoky and spicy) and didn't go down well. Then we were taken to... More

Tucked away off State Street, this little gem is well worth a visit. This was our first night out in Santa Barbara and it gave us a great welcome. The waitress (I wish I could remember her name) was awesome and really took us through the menu. Her suggestion of the chips and salsa to start while we looked through... More

Cielito has wonderful atmosphere both inside and out. Unfortunately it was too cool to sit outside by the bubbling fountain in the lovely courtyard but inside was even better, the decor is very hip and trendy. Not being a huge mexican food lover I was impressed. The chips, salsa and guacamole were fantastic. Some in our party got the enchilada's... More

Arrived on time for our reservation and the lone hostess was taking a call on the phone. We stood there for at least 5 minutes until another staff came to seat us. Unacceptable for a top scale restaurant. We were seated at a small table where there was a loud party of some type. Could not hear my wife talk... More

My dining companion and I stopped in at Cielito for Easter Sunday dinner and were most pleased with all facets of the food, service and ambience in every category. Tucked away in a lovely courtyard with stone statuary, brick and tile walkways and a large fountain right in front of their outdoor dining area, the restaurant is attractive and inviting.... More

On a recent trip we ate in a number of Santa Barbara restaurants, and this was our favorite. The restaurant is off the street in a courtyard with shops. We decided to sit outside near the charming fountain--with turtles! The food is wonderful. We shared several small plates from pork belly quesadillas and the house made Guacamole to the Salsa... Food is awesome, wines are great. Service was attentive and patient. Location is nicely set. If weather allows, a table at the patio is recommended.

We had a great bartender, who took her time and let us taste some Mexcals before we made our selections ( silencio and sombra). Our bartender also secured my boyfriend a grapefruit when he said it would go with his mezcal. We also ordered Oaxan grits and the sopesitos, which were delicious. I will go return when in town again.
