Great English fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce

Great place - nothing special inside but food is good and you get wine and draft beer. Its served in "newspaper". Our daughters had seen it on a US TV program - dine and dives?! - it was recommended by them. We had the small fish and chips and that was more than enough. Also homemade pies and... read more

Another great recommendation from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The Fish and Chips are excellent, I enjoyed the atmosphere

Excellent fried cod, and the "Boddies" (Boddingtons) was tremendous, pulled so nicely from the tap that I had two. The chunky chips (fries) will not thrill most Americans. But I would come back for the fish and the beer, or to try some of the bangers. The staff are very eager to please, and for a place where you order... More

I really enjoyed the fish which was crispy and flaky but that was the only good thing. The fries were the worst I have had - not even salted. There was a group of teens taking up 3 tables with 4 people and charging their phones in the wall while it looked like they had been done eating for awhile.... More

We are fans of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and were super excited to try this Fish and Chips Place. We got two orders of regular fish and chips, a cup of clam chowder, battered sausages, deep fried twix and deep fried fried twinkies. First try of the clam chowder and I was turned off. It was super salty. I took... More

The fish was cooked upon order. It was perfectly fried as were the fries. The clam chowder scored a 9, the highest outside Boston.

This was probably the best fish ever. I don't think their chips were very good though. They were not crisp. You order at the counter and they bring your food. The place has a few tables. For the fish, they use Atlantic cod. It comes it three sizes, petite, regular and the whale which weighs 1 pound! They also have... More

Quick and handy snack bar on State St. Clam chowder was good, just a little salty. Fish and chips were pretty good, thick, fresh, well cooked and not too greasy. Pretty big portions. Nice people, nice food, reasonable prices. Felt good after a long day, just a little too full coming out there!

I eat Fish and Chip nearly everywhere I go and this was not the best. But what really got me was that they sell something they are calling Haggis which did not come close to the original, no wonder American's won't eat it if this is what they think it is, tasted awful. I also had some kind of a... More

This is the famous fosh and chips place featured on Diners, Driveins and Dives. The fish is very good, with a tasty crispy deep fried battered 9-10 inch strip of fresh Alaskan cod. The french fries (chips) are "twice fried". A very healthy portion of both for $ 5.50. The menu also includes other appetizing stuff. You definitely wont leave... More
