As a brit, I’m always weary of American restaurants that claim to be fish & chips shops. If there is one dish we do well in England its F&C's. I was pleasantly surprised with Mac's and it was great to wash the yummy food down with a decent beer.

After having the delicious fish and chips, I found myself craving to go back again. Atmosphere is simple and basic, but perfectly suitable.... Very tasty and the price is great.

My husband is Scottish, from Glasgow. I thought it would be a treat to take him to this place for fish and chips. The food was average. The fish was hard and tasteless and a bit too oily as the batter didn't stick on the fish. The chips were soggy and tasteless. It was good that there were huge containers... More

We saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and knew we had to try it out. The fish was so delicious. You could tell it was fresh. We didn't love the fries, but overall I would definitely eat here again.

We live in Santa Barbara for five to six months every year for the last seven years , coming from the UK . We were so excited with macs fish and chips NOT ! No more British fish and chips than an American burger ! In the UK the chips are dryed in lard with NO Cajun spice just plain... More

This restaurant (I use the term loosely) was terrible, dry fish and chips that had been either cooked in stale fat or had been reheated. Truly dreadful. It was dirty and the toilets were so grim, I decided not to bother using them!! If I had seen them first I wouldn't have ordered any food. Horrible, truly horrible, complete waste... More

Just had a fantastic "Holiday pie" at Mac's: turkey, carrots, potatoes, and parsnips. My wife's fish and chips were the best I have ever tasted outside of the UK.

I'll be honest, this was about my fourth choice for dinner, but things just weren't going my way, private parties, early closures, it just happens that I ended up here. But I'm glad I did, the food was good, and very reasonably priced. I had fish and chips and a bowl of clam chowder. I really liked the soup, best... More

A favorite lunch stop of mine on lower State Street. The owner is from Manchester and he has done an excellent job of providing reasonably priced solid English grub. Fish and chips on fake newspaper are around $7 and haggis is about the same price.
