Teally Good Fosh and Chips

This is the famous fosh and chips place featured on Diners, Driveins and Dives. The fish is very good, with a tasty crispy deep fried battered 9-10 inch strip of fresh Alaskan cod. The french fries (chips) are "twice fried". A very healthy portion of both for $ 5.50. The menu also includes other... read more

We were excited to try this place out. Seemed popular. The fish itself was great!! Thick piece of fish!! The fries, not so much. In fact, my wife thought they have been the worst fries ever, mushy, tasteless. I ordered a side of baked beans, also not so great. It needed more sugar and tomato sauce. Hint: just order the... The fish and chips, atmosphere and place is a miss sorry to say. There are too many places to eat in Santa Barbara that can offer you better better tasting fish and chips.

If Guy Fieri is eating here, then so do I! Authentic fish and chips! Generous portions and very tasty food! Their chicken strips they serve with a side of gravy..wow! I'm sorry to have not tasted their deep fried candy bars! That is for next time!!

Wanted to like this place as it was featured on DDD with Guy Fieri, so, we figured it had to be good. We both ordered the regular size fish and chips. It is a good sized fish fillet, tasted fresh and the batter was good. Unfortunately, it was a bit greasy. The chips (fries) were not good tasted old and... More

We were visiting Santa Barbara and spent the morning walking down State Street. We saw this place early on and thought maybe we'd give it a try. Came back by at lunch time and it was already crowded but we went in. Glad we did. The clam chowder is some of the best I have ever eaten. My wife and... More

Dropped in Mac's Fish & Chips located on State steet in Santa Barbara which is the main street downtown. Order from a counter area and the staff delivers your order. We had the regular portion which had a very large of a delicious well breaded and cooked piece of fish. The fish was tender, moist, and flakey. Well done indeed.... More

Oh course this is what the place is known for but they really do a great job! They serve large pieces of fish and friendly and causal atmosphere. There's also a good selection of beer and then you can continue your stroll through the shops.

The staff of Mac's is very friendly. The fish is excellently crispy, hot and non-greasy. The chips were below average and tasted a bit rancid. Next time I will choose the fish only option.

In general, I find Santa Barbara to be overrated and full of itself. However, while browing the shops we stopped into Mac's for a quick lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The place is relatively small and very casual and friendly. We ordered the fish and chips (only one of many interesting things on the menu) and found the fish to... More
