We asked the hotel manager where to get some really good Mexican. He suggested this place, off the main drag and excitement of State St. This is the real deal, simply amazing food and apparently "where the locals go". I will go there every time I visit Santa Barbara from now on. I had the sopes plate, which is not... More

This Mexican restaurant was a great find! We went for lunch, and it was packed. There was loads of choice, and the service was speedy. The food was spicy and really tasty, with big portions. Best burritos ever!

We were recommended Los Agaves by a few locals and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was buzzy and relaxed, wear your shorts or jeans and you will fit right in. You order at the counter, grab your sauces for the warm tortilla chips they serve you and await your food. The food is so delicious, they have loads of... More

After reading all of the reviews praising the food, we picked this restaurant for dinner. While most of our party really enjoyed the food, there were other aspects of the experience we did not enjoy. Even on a weeknight, the restaurant was very crowded. While the food and it's presentation lend themselves more to a sit-down atmosphere, here you need... More

I got to town, wanted good Mexican food and took a chance. (no, didn’t consult trip advisor) WOW, what a find...I got lucky and should have consulted trip advisor from the beginning. Restaurant serves a LOT of food, got some chicken nachos the first visit and was in WAY over my head. Lots of food, decent service, good salsa bar,... More

We had an amazingly authentic Mexican meal here. There were so many people eating and standing in line on a Monday night that I thought it would be impossible to get a table for 5, However, by the time we got through the line, we amazingly found a table too. Sevice is very friendly and helpful, The enchiladas, fish tacos,... More

Los Agaves was one of the BEST Mexican meals I've ever had! We ate here twice in two days while visiting Santa Barbara - once for a late lunch and once for dinner (both on weekdays). Lunch was nice, not terribly crowded. Dinner was crowded - there was a line out the door and my husband and I decided to... More

Los Agaves is away from the touristy State Street restaurants, but is well worth the detour and the long line. They have an extensive menu as well as a full board of specials. We had the camarones guajillo and alambres, and both were fresh and flavorful (I would have liked a little less cheese on the alambres, but that's my... More
