Surprised not to see this on your web site - many people (myself included) consider it the best Mexican Food in Santa Barbara. Service also excellent, at least when they are not crowded, which the often are! Just down the street from another outstanding (but simpler) Mexican Restaurant, La Super-Rica Taqueria.

It's all in the salsas!

Great place. Typically always jumping, but the service is quick and friendly. Their salsas are the best in town -- all flavorful from the mildest pico de gallo to the flashy habanero. Specials are good and they treat seafood like one gets it in Mexico -- succulent and well-spiced. The little bean... read more

Everyone told me before I went to Santa Barbara, I had to go to Los Agaves. I'm from San Diego and I am surrounded by Mexican food. With so much reviews and hype, I had to check it out. This place is not your average burrito shop. I wouldn't even classify it as a burrito shop. You're not getting street... More

This is a family restaurants. Kids and dogs and takeout lines out the door. There is a reason for this. The food is spectacular. We can't get this quality kind of Mexican food in Boston. What a treat. Ate twice. Best pork burrito I've ever had. Chicken enchiladas a treat. Steak something or other with soft corn tacos-- hot! My... More

I've eaten here a number of times & the food is always great!! Love the salsa bar. I've tried several things from fish, lamb to the tacos & it's all very tasty. Can get busy. And can be slightly pricy depending on what you get.

First of all I expected this to be a regular restaurant where you're seated. It's not. Your order is being taken at the counter and you get a number and then you look for a table yourself. We came during rush hour (1 - 2:30) and if you want to do yourself a favor: stay away at this time because... More

Very good Mexican restaurant a block from La Super Rica. Clean, modern interior. It's a self service restaurant but the quality of the food is very good. Delicious handmade tortillas, a good, well-kept salsa bar, and relatively prompt service. Big portions, rice is very salty, beans are good. Really nice lunch place. Can get busy.

There were four of us in our party and we went there on a Wednesday evening. You almost have to know what you want when you enter because the line was not long to place your order. The food is then delivered to your table very quickly. I recommend the tacos Del Mar with shrimp. The shrimp was huge and... More

First off let me state - I'm from Texas so usually I don't eat Mexican outside of TX because I haven't been successful in finding anything like I'm used to. We stopped here because of the reviews and it was recommended to me - I wasn't impressed. I had the cheese enchilada and beef soft taco - figured that is... More

Until enjoying the food at Los Agaves, I had come to expect various Mexican entries to be the same no matter where the restaurant. A bowl of cueso seemed to be the same in Lubbock, TX as in Washington DC. It could easily be my naivety, but I had come to believe that all Mexican recipes were found in one... More

We went to dinner at Los Agaves on the recommendation of someone who lives in Santa Barbara. Initially I thought the restaurant was near the beach and then realized it was on Milpas. The restaurant is tucked in a small storefront along the street and is not easily accessible. Parking is provided in the back of the restaurant but be... More
