Real coffee

We ordered an espresso, a cappuccino, and a kids milk. We all enjoyed our orders. The front porch and inside is beautifully designed.

The French Press is a short walk from the Canary Hotel. It's not the place to go if you're in a hurry, but the drinks are worth the wait and so are the pastries. Skip the big chain coffee places one day and give this local spot a try.

After three weeks visiting the U.S. from Melbourne (the self-professed coffee capital of Australia, where Australian Rules Football and coffee are the only true religions) it was great to find a place that actually knows what coffee is supposed to be like. Best coffee we've had in three weeks (though arguably that might not be saying much in the land... More

Long wait as only one barista working ......and not worth the wait. Ethiopian blend for the expresso was sour not smooth and rich..... and cold to boot! Back to Peet's.

To me, the best thing about the French Press Anacapa location is the outdoor patio, a great place to meet a friend for coffee and catch up. The coffee is also very good, especially the espresso drinks.

This is not the Starbucks experience where you grab your coffee and go. With that said, it's a fun, busy spot. The staff are excellent and the coffee is good too.

Walked here from our hotel & the line out the door proved we were in for a great cup of coffee! They roast their own coffee & my cappuccino was awesome & pretty! I had the roasted tomato, ham & cheddar quiche. Crust was perfect & the roasting of the tomato was a great compliment to the cheddar. Highly recommend... More

Went there on a friend's recommendation and were not disappointed. We love local independent cafes. French Press has delicious coffee (they roast their own) and knowledgeable baristas. We visited their State Street spot and feel sad that we didn't have a chance to visit the second location on Anacapa Street.

This is a great place to stop for coffee if you are enjoying State Street. It's small, but the drinks are really good. There is seating in the front if you want to people watch in State Street. There is also indoor seating as well.
