Looking forward to my next visit

We visited Benjie's mid-afternoon on a Saturday. Never having been to New York, I'm not going to even try to compare Benjie's to a 'real' deli - whatever that is - I've been to Canter's in LA and a couple of former deli's (PJ Berstein's in Laguna Hills). But - the menu is extensive - lots of... read more

This place has been here forever. They have a great deli menu along with many other dishes. I love their prime rib dip and my wife always gets their pastrami sandwich. It's always too big to finish and makes a great meal for later. Prices are reasonable and the service is very friendly and efficient.

I have stopped here several times for a lunch after my optometrist appointment. The food is always good. I usually stick to the excellent corned beef on rye. I love the pickles. The restaurant is a little dated but in the way Canter's in L.A. is. Leave it alone. It's a little pricey but everything is fresh and high quality... More

About 40 years ago I ate at this restaurant and why I never went back I don't know. I passed by and decided to stop in. Boy was I glad. I had food that I hadn't eaten on over 40 years. True deli food and the service was just as great

If it is an authentic deli you are looking for you should try Katella Deli in Los Alamitos. Our experience provided a basic sandwich in an atmosphere needing serious updating. The staff seemed nice enough but not friendly in the least. My guess is most of their business is from people that have been going there for years and find... More

This is not on the beaten path or even downtown Santa Ana; it's sort of a residential location. If in Santa Ana and you want a reasonable priced deli lunch, look this one up and go. You'll not regret it. Order any sandwich, but the specials are just that; special.

A friend who grew up here was in town from KY & we chose Benji's for breakfast. Neither of us had been here in years, but I had a hankering for lox & bagels for breakfast. Benji's hasn't changed. Not really sure if that is a positive or a negative -- nostalgia is great but it goes only so far.... More

Hubby had the hot corned beef sandwich on kaiser and I had the #2 corned beef/salami/swiss triple decker. See pics. 'Nuff said. He couldn't finish his, I had chix noodle soup with matzo balls and so I could only eat 1/3 of my sandwich on rye. The triple decker was $13.49 and hubby's hot corned beef was $12.49. He asked... This restaurant has been in business for over 45 years. Large portions at a reasonable price. Not the cheapest place to dine, but the food is worth it.

Anyone who considers this place to be a reasonable facsimile of a New York Jewish deli has never been to a New York Jewish deli! Take it from a guy who grew up in New York City, who went to college in Manhattan and who frequents Canter's whenever possible...this place doesn't even come close to Canter's or Langer's.
