After a day touring Hearst Castle we had an inkling for steak & seafood. On our request the Inn recommended the Manta Rey restaurant which was very close by. The restaurant was low key (i.e. I was in shorts and a t-shirt) & the setting was fairly casual but that's where that stopped. The staff was wonderful and the food... More

We went in expecting nothing and were so glad we stayed! I ordered cioppino, with many reservations. It turned out to be fantastic! The white sea bass was also majorly yummy. They even had a decent wine list. The staff was gracious and accommodating. It was a wonderful find!!

Good quick dinner in a limited location. Very friendly staff, average menu and food, but absolutely fine for a road trip dinner.

We were very surprised that this was so good. In a hotel chain and was told it was good. Inexpensive for what you get and great portions. Low key and not fancy,so if you are looking for a good meal, that is casual and serves various options and nice portions this is one of the better places in San Simeon.... More

Who would have thought that in an area of inexpensive motels there would be such an exceptional restaurant. Diverse menu, good service, great food, yummy dessert and reasonable priced wine list.

We stayed one evening in San Simeon and were not sure, where to go for dinner. All TripAdvisor comments were not really motivating in that small area. Finally we decided to go to Manta Rey. Everyone had somethig different - from swordfish via pasta to the filet mignon. We enjoied our dinner very much - everthing was wonderful and tasted... More

This restaurant was written up to be excellent but it failed in many respects. Each item on the menu sounded wonderful, but when it was brought to the table, it was disappointing. The bread and butter were very good to start with. I ordered the Sea Bass and while the presentation was nice, the flavor and seasonings left a lot... More

We ate while staying at a near by hotel. The restaurant is small and although it was nice and cool outside the inside was hot. They had the door open and we fought a fly our entire dinner. The food was good and plenty of it.

The food was pricey and okay. The waitress said it would be a 25 minute wait but ended up being 45 minutes. I was so hungry. The place was small and there was a big family that took two big tables and we conversing for a long time after their meals were done so people had to wait for tables.... More

We went here after a visiting Hears Castle and its one of the only places that was open and was full of people, thats always a great sign. This was 5 star dining at an incredible price. We had no idea what we were in for, all we wanted was some food before bed, we ended up getting the royal... More
