We had a late dinner the week following Christmas having made a reservation for following the night tour at San Simeon. The reviews were quite positive. The restaurant was pretty deserted, and we closed it down by 9:45 pm. Our food was adequate, including sea food, and ceasar salad with blackened salmon, salmon with grilled asparagus and portobello mushroom ravioli.... More

Located right on Highway 1, at 9240 Castillo Drive, the Manta Rey is so very much worth your time. Even though reservations are highly recommended, we arrived early and were seated before 6. Wise decision, because by the time we left just after 7, at least, ten people were waiting for tables. Intimate and romantic are two choice words to... More

We have tried to eat at this restaurant twice, because a respected friend tells us the food is good. A year ago, we were unimpressed. Last night, was again a disappointment. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller which were good...more like casino style, but good. We asked whether the salmon was farmed or wild caught, the waitress "guessed" farmed, ditto with sea... More

Pricey but worth the money. Attentive service. Food was hot and tasty. Try the chowder bowl , greaaaat. Easy parking and entrance is on stairs or from motel nextdoor.

we have dinner here every Thanksgiving weekend and have always enjoyed the experience. this past Thanksgiving it was not the same. the service was very slow' and inattentive. we arrived fairly early and thought we could have a nice relaxed dining experience after the long drive. We ordered a glass of wine and then our food. the wine came right... More

We were glad to have made a reservation as it seemed very busy with a pre Christmas rush. Lovely sauces on the seafood. In our opinion one of the tastiest meals we have had in the area. Highly recommended!

We went here for a late dinner expecting a steakhouse, but most of the menu was seafood or Italian. The meat was supposed to be local, but it was tough and pretty tasteless. Our dinner companion did not enjoy her chicken fettucini either- said it was "rubbery." The mushroom appetizer was great, and they have a decent wine selection, but... More

We had the crab, which was delicious, with melted butter and beers. Wait staff was great and atmosphere was quiet and relaxing!

The restaurant is located off hwy 1, the motel strip area, near the Comfort Inn. We were staying at a motel nearby - 5 min. walk. The wait staff was operating on "rote" but we stayed anyway and were glad we did. I ordered the sand dabs, which were excellent; hubby ordered the fish platter and was not disappointed. Highly... Haven't eaten here in over a year, but am pleased to report that it's as good as ever. The waitress was very familiar with their wine list and the salmon I ordered was perfect
