Heading south on the Pacific Coast Highway after tour the Piedras Blancas lighthouse, we spotted El Chorlito and stopped for lunch. Great salsa. The spinach mushroom quesadilla was fantastic -- tasty, well spiced, and fully stuffed -- and the chicken tostada was too huge for one person. We also ordered a side of nopales, which was delicious. Everything was fresh.... More

Driving south on Route 1 we stopped on a whim. It was late afternoon and we ate on the patio out back. The restaurant is nicely decorated and it was very pleasant to dine out back. The wait staff was very friendly. Started with a few cold beers. My girlfriend had a taco salad and I had steak chimichangas. Both... More

definitely will not recommend, food is not fresh cocktails tasted watered down. 3 of us had dinner and we could not even point out what was good about anything. Forgettable. The place looks deserted , tired and boring. Poor, don't waste your money.

We had dinner here while in town for a wedding. The beef tacos were good, nice flavored meat, could have uses a little more cheese. Rice and beans were good. The seafood taco and enchilada was good too. We eat a lot of Mexican food, so we know Mexican. This was good, not great but good. When in San Simeon... More

We ate at this Mexican restaurant after a visit to Hearst Castle. After a rather check welcome (which we liked) we had some drinks and a very nice meal here. For our main meal, my wife and I both had Hearst Castle Ranch beef enchilada, which were spicy and plentiful. For pudding we had deep fried tortillas, drizzled in 'luvly',... More

We have eaten at the El Chorlito on previous trips and looked forward to re-visiting it. We were quite pleased with our return visit. The staff were courteous and helpful - offered guidance with regard to the meal offerings. My wife enjoyed her chicken tostada and I found the carnitas tacos to be very tasty. The view of the beautiful... More

We liked the charming place. Excellent food and very friendly staff. Beautifully located with great landscaping and decor. A feel good place to relax and have a tequila and small chat with someone interesting.

We just returned from El Chorlito. We are staying at the Morgon Hotel and decided on the El Chorlito because it was so close. The restaurant and the food was very authentic. We ordered tacos, chimichanga, shrimp fajitas, quesadillas and a burrito. I would rate the food 7 out of 10. However, the service was slow. We were seated immediately,... More

We have dined at this restaurant several times over the years and I'm hoping that our meal there last Saturday was not an indication of the direction they may be headed. We were seated quickly and provided menus, chips and salsa. After a short delay, (us, not the staff) orders were taken and all was well. After the food was... More
