Not Great Food, but worth a visit

If you are visiting Hearst Castle in San Simeon, avoid the restaurants in the Visitors Center (really just cafeteria food), and head down the hill from the Castle to Sebastian's. Sebastian’s was suggested by a colleague and since he’s normally spot on we decided to stop by after our Hearst Castle tour. There was a huge line when we arrived – that’s a good sign, right? We got our food about an hour after first arriving and were ok with that. One of the locals suggested the burger because the... More

Stopped here after our morning at the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse..sat out on the deck and enjoyed a glass of wine for half an hour...Walk down the street there and out on the pier at Hearst State Beach.

This place has the biggest and tastiest burgers I've ever had. I had blue cheese burger and big onion rings, and it was delicious! It is own by family for many many years. Great wine bar, a little too busy. It was nice to sit outside on the front porch and enjoy an ocean view. Also, you can see the... More

Lovely wine bar with Hearst wines and others. Very historic, ocean front with the pier and a beautiful view of Hearst Castle. Gourmet food items available for a picnic and shade trees with picnic tables.

I had read great reviews of Sebastian's a few years ago, so we decided to eat there after our tour of Hearst Castle. We shared a Hearst Ranch beef burger that was not very good. Some of the other sandwiches were very popular with our group, however, so maybe it was just the burger that does not impress. I loved the... More

This was one of our favorite places to go, loved the menu, hate the menu now and the food was terrible. We had a burger and it was like a prepackaged burger with no flavor. Sad to see it change for the worst. Would not come back.

Sebastian's Store is so special it even has a signpost on the highway. Calling it a "gift shop and coffee bar" is a misnomer. It is a lunch counter serving the most delicious and generous sandwiches imaginable as well as an old country store and, more recently, paired with a wine tasting bar of Hearst Ranch wines. A "must stop"... More

We stopped to get a sandwich, because Sebastians has been in business for years. They used to have the best sandwiches. When we arrive, we notice that it was different. Seems that Sebastian retired and the Hearst people bought the place. We were hesitant to order because there was NO line out the door like back in the day, and... More

Located just off Highway 1 on the ocean side nearly opposite Hearst Castle, if you want one of the tastiest and quickest meals in the area, then, please do not miss this experience. What is this building with the car park full and vehicles lined up on each side of the road? Is it a general store, a post office,... More
