Sebastian's Store is so special it even has a signpost on the highway. Calling it a "gift shop and coffee bar" is a misnomer. We stopped to get a sandwich, because Sebastians has been in business for years. They used to have the best sandwiches. When we arrive, we notice that it was different. Seems that Sebastian retired and the Hearst people bought the place. We were hesitant to order because there was NO line out the door like back in the day, and... More

Located just off Highway 1 on the ocean side nearly opposite Hearst Castle, if you want one of the tastiest and quickest meals in the area, then, please do not miss this experience. What is this building with the car park full and vehicles lined up on each side of the road? Is it a general store, a post office,... More

Sebastian’s Cafe is a cute little sandwich shop, wine tasting bar, and gift shop, located just off Highway 1, and heavily frequented by locals in the greater San Simeon area. We were really fortunate that some locals recommended this cafe for lunch. We shared a reuben and some fries, because the portions were huge. It was very good. The bread... More

It's been years since we were at San Simeon. It used to be a decidedly run-down little almost-there town. It's still not much as far as a town goes, but it has Sebastian's Cafe and Wine Tasting Bar and that's enough to get us to go. We've done the Castle before and this time we were just driving down Hwy... More

My family used to LOVE the old deli and general store. We'd get the most amazing beef and blue sandwich, potato salad, veggie sandwich, etc. We used to drive out of our way and change our schedule to eat here. Hands down the best sandwiches ever. That is all gone and sadly replaced with a place that goes by the... More

We (family and friends) have been stopping at Sebastian's for the last few years, and it has been fantastic. However, we heard it through the grapevine that the restaurant was under new ownership and the quality had declined. Not only that, we read reviews confirming the rumors. This was heartbreaking to say the least, but we wanted to find out... More

The new owners of Sebastian's have stepped it up a notch...not as many menu choices, but what is offered is excellent. Really good Hearst Ranch beef burgers, with excellent cheeses, onions, sauces, etc! We went there two days in a row! Plus they know what has gluten, and will prepare food for you that is gluten free. Plus, the Hearst... More

The restaurant offered a varied and affordable menu (sandwiches, burgers, seafood and Mexican foods) as well as some truly delicious homemade desserts (the chocolate and butterscotch brownie for $2 was scrumptious!) Service was excellent, friendly. An adjoining wine bar makes Sebastian's an excellent restaurant for adults as well as families with children who will enjoy the children's menu.

If you are going to Hearst Castle, Sebastian's is a convenient stop for lunch, but it did not live up to the good reviews. Although there is some basic indoor and outdoor seating, it's much nicer to get the food for takeout and drive a very short distance to the picnic area by the pier, which has very nice views....
