After spending the day at The Cavallo Point Spa , my son took us to this restaurant up in San Rafael. The restaurant has a very unique decor inside , consisting of old doors placed side by side to create a covering for the walls as well as an eclectic collection of "stuff" all about the establishment. Many of the... More

We stumbled across this restaurant at the end of a wonderful day out touring Marin county headlands, the Redwoods, and the FLW-designed Civic Center. Heading back round the Bay, hungry, we dropped down in San Raphael and found this place within 5 minutes. Authentic Puerto Rican food, with a short queue on a mid-week evening at sundown, great flavours and... More

i want to be on the Sol Food band wagon, but i keep wondering why there are the long lines. The food is alright, I do love the garlic plantains, but even the carry out restaurant takes up to a 30 minute wait for food. The salad is just mixed greens, and avocado wedge and oil and lemon dressing. The... More

Nice to have a genuine Puerto Rican restaurant in town. Actually a mini-empire, with take out shop small outside cafe and main restaurant, oh and nick-hacks. Tasty food, good coffee, and large servings. Nice for breakfast also. But go early, as the lines sometimes stretch down the block. Family friendly, and lovely staff. Their mango ice tea is great, so... More

Fantastic restaurant, easy for takeout if you don't want to wait in the long lines. Consistently delicious. Their hot sauce is addictive!

This restaurant has very good TA reviews but I was not impressed with either the food quality or taste. Moreover, the service was not great - we picked up food for the family and the order was not correct on 2 different occasions

I enjoyed the breaded shrimp, black beans and white rice; but locals raved about the garlic plantains and I was not impressed. The lacked seasoning, outside of the overwhelming garlic cloves pieces that were stuck to the plantain.

While visiting friends who live in Marin, they suggested a place for lunch. Puerto Rican food in the bay area, what!!!????? I could not believe it, it was awesome! Such a friendly restaurant with authentic Borinquen food. I will say the tostones could have been a bit better, they were a bit over cooked and tough. The rice was perfect,... More

This is just like being on the island of Puerto Rico. The food is so good, it is as if you were visiting relatives on the islands. Highly recommend the mofongo with camorones and the tostones with mojo. Have a Limonada..freshly squeezed limeade with a fizz. You are seated with other diners so you get to meet people from all...
