Hidden gem in San Mateo. Hidden off of El Camino but worth looking for. Has quite a bit of vegetarian food with lots of flavor. I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Very friendly workers and accommodating. Food comes out pretty quick and consistently. I would go there more often, but I live in SF.

I was part of a group of chefs from the bay area who were invited to Little Shanhai for a late night "snack". Our host took the liberty to order his favorite dishes so we were treated to an over the top culinary experience. We had an appetizer that looked like a simple noodle dish. I was blown away by... I normally don't review restaurants.. However this is one of the best Chinese restaurant I've tried outside Asia, and trust me, I've tried a lot.. so I think it's worth reviewing. You cannot go wrong with most of the items on the menu. A lot of traditional Shanghai dishes, which even if not my favorite regional Chinese cuisine, truly shines... More

If you like Shanghai style dish that is the place to go. I did not have a chance to taste every dish. I really like dishes I ordered and came back the next day.

Whenever we're in the Bay Area, we make it a point to come here. The noodles are fantastic, the Xiao Lung Bao is absolutely the best, the onion pancakes are delicious, the chinese donut (literal translation is oily stick) is great, the prices are super reasonable, it has parking, it is clean, it is fast, the service is good, can't... Totally worth the drive from my hotel at San Francisco Aiport. All the dishes I ordered are authentic Shanghai cusine, e.g. Qicai pork wonton, Yangchun noodle soup, five-spicy fried little fish, fried rice cake. Highly recommend!

On the road back to San Francisco airport from S an Jose, I took a detour to find some lunch. Pulling off the 101 into San Mateo and glancing at a Google map, I saw a highly rated restaurant named Little Shanghai. What a great surprise! This is not a fancy interior or exterior - the focus of this restaurant... More
