Go early if you want to enjoy yummy food

I love this little always crowded restaurant. I have learn to go early or late because parking can be crazy....and seating is hard to come by during the lunch or dinner rush. Most of the food is very good. Always a favorite with my relatives from China. Love the fried eel with the glazed sauce... read more

Ate here twice. Best mongolian beef I've ever had. When you walk into a Chinese restaurant and its nothing but local Chinese eating there, you know its the real deal. Service is so-so but you're there for the food. If you are near by, do not pass this place up. Food is also very modestly priced especially for the portions.

One of the first rules of finding a good restaurant is to look where all the locals eat. In my opinion if you want real Chinese food Little Shanghai Restaurant is the real deal. While I had made the decision to experiment with something so authentic that I had to step outside of my comfort zone because I was the... More

A great find, indeed. Always good service. I'm a big fan of the dan dan noodles and the ginger spinach.

Love to come here on the weekends for brunch. They have great salty rice rolls, xlb, shanghai chow mien and our favorite is their dan dan mien. Service is fast and food is delicious!

What a great find...I just got back from Asia and Asia has nothing over this small joint in the heart of San Mateo downtown area. Felt like I was in China from the start to the end! The food fresh and flavorful was some of the best I have had....and the pricing...well it was very inexpensive for the size of... More

Hidden gem in San Mateo. Hidden off of El Camino but worth looking for. Has quite a bit of vegetarian food with lots of flavor. I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Very friendly workers and accommodating. Food comes out pretty quick and consistently. I would go there more often, but I live in SF.

I was part of a group of chefs from the bay area who were invited to Little Shanhai for a late night "snack". Our host took the liberty to order his favorite dishes so we were treated to an over the top culinary experience. We had an appetizer that looked like a simple noodle dish. I was blown away by... I came here after reading alot of reviews, either this place was having and off day or I was at the wrong restaurant. yes this place is popular, at 5pm people started showing up by 5:20 it was full, pretty good for a place that seats about 60. Inside is tiny. people are running into each other, the kitchen is... More
