Nice Place for Chinese

The restaurant is not a regular "Chinese Joint". The've located to their new "digs" on El camino Real. Its a lovely restaurant!!! We had the "Appt." plate for two, we shared Moo Shoo Pork and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Quite Nice but nothing special. Its worth the trip and the price. Of-course they... read more

Went there recently with a group of 6. Had pot stickers, mushu pork, both good. Service was very good. I thought fried rice tasted bland and cashew chicken was light on the chicken. I have had hot and sour soup there that was very good. Overall was fine and I will go back but some dishes seem to be mediocre.

We have eaten at Gau Poang several times over the years and always have a good meal. The menu offers several choices of each throughout the spectrum, meats, fish, soups, noodles, vegetables, rice and appetizers. The meals have always been tasty and fresh and service has always been friendly and efficient.

Arrived at the airport and was heading to Palo Alto in the mood for Chinese so looked up TripAdvisor Had a very friendly greeting and ordered pot stickers and Mongolian Beef. The first were quite good but a little heavy. I had asked for the beef dish to be spicy but they didn't really take me up on it. The... More

One of my "go to" restaurants. Food is always fresh. The menu has a wide variety including the blander dishes for the elderly and spicy for the younger. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable for this area. The restaurant has a semi-private seating area with a table that seats up to 10, which is great... More

This restaurant has been here for many years and serves consistently good food at reasonable prices. The owners are always here and are watching over the dining room with a very capable wait staff. Food is always served hot and is very tasty. Have come here many times with my entire family of 10 and always leave happy. Free parking... More

The fried rice is very good. My son lives around the corner from this place. The owner and staff are very friendly. We didn't stay in because my kids already made some dishes at home. The place looks very clean and cozy with ample parking. They don't use MSG at all which is great. I asked them to go easy... More

Based on Tripadvisor reviews, Hubby and I decided to give Gau Poang a try for lunch, which is always less of an investment than dinner. It took a bit to find it, not because it's hidden, but it's front is so bland I had driven by it several times without noticing it. We arrived at 11:30am, and were the first... More

My husband and I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor while traveling through Cali. What a great little place. The food, service and atmosphere were awesome! We REALLY enjoyed our lunch and would absolutely return!

Birthdays, Mother's Day, any day, we love this place! It's family run and someone always graciously greets guests. Delicious and consistent makes this a family favorite. My favorite dish is the shrimp fried rice, the egg gets browned and the sweet peas add that pop of sweetness. Yum!
